Did the war room really erupt in cheers when GB passed on Henne?

Brohm looks like Richie Cunningham.....Henne looks like a man. Henne has been through some tough battles in the Big Ten and plays through pain....Brohm looks like a system QB who is nowhere near as tough or ready for the NFL as Henne. I am glad we took Henne over Brohm.

I just question that IF Henne was so valued, why did we take the chance of not picking him earlier in the 2nd round? No, I understand the value we got at 32, but why not trade up from 57 to make sure we got him if they targeted him like is said. Maybe they thought he was good value at 57, but did not think he was worth moving up for??

I never said they saw him as a franchise Qb. Neither Beck or Henne were considered franchise qb's as draft picks. Clearly the front office wanted Henne from the beginning and would have picked him at 32 if Merling had not fallen. They took a risk because a top 10 possible player dropped way down. Draft is all about risk. Was Henne a player that if he was selected before us enough to change our our whole draft of course not as neither was Beck or marino at the time they were drafted. Last year our backup plan was Edwards and this year who knows it might have been Brohm or another QB. we clearly liked Henne because thats all you read about up to the draft. The fact of the matter is if they FO liked Beck as much as some like to think they would not have drafted another Qb. Name one other time a team has been enamoured with a second year player yet drafted a Qb high the next year.
Hell KC and Minny have more faith in thier young qb than we do.

San Francisco picked up Young from a crappy Tampa Bay team to support Joe Montana. Young had several QB's come in. At one time SF had 4 slingers including Young who could come in at a moments notice and light it up on most teams in the league.

This is how a dynasty is built. What is funny is that you are stating how "clearly the fo wanted Henne from the beginning but had to take Merling, blah blah blah." Unless you are part of the staff that was actually in the planning meetings when decisions about who to draft than it is all speculation. There is no "clearly" about it.

we did not go into the draft thinking we would draft Henne. He fell to us just like Merling did. If we really wanted Henne we definatly would have moved up to make sure we got him. We got lucky (or at least I hope so).

A few years back the cowboys had a chance to draft Roy Williams, but i forgot who the team was but they offered picks to move up a few slots in the top ten and the cowboys gambled that they could get williams like three picks later. Williams was there guy the whole time but an opportunity to have your cake and eat it too came up and they were willing to take the gamble and it paid off, just like it did for the dolphins this year.

Obviously if a big 3-4 DE (with a first round grade) drops to you pick him period and take your chances since most team ahead of us in the second round did'nt need QB's :err:
