Dion Jordan working hard this offseason

Some players need a reality check and it looks like Dion Jordan got one...instead of being "given" a starting position as the number 3 pick....he had to earn it and realized that others (Vernon) are willing to do whatever it takes to win the same position....in the end I hope it creates two great DE's...

I love how people on this board already think he sucks after just 1 season playing a position he never played before

Microwave mentality.

The guy is the real deal.

Easy bake oven mentality.

The guy hasnt had time to prove "suck" nor "real deal".

See why you homers can never ever be taken seriously?

Damn dude, he was a rookie and needed time to adjust to the pro game. He wasn't the only 1st rnd pick on the bench. Kid is a freak of nature athletically and if he has been working out for weeks now in the training facility I can only imagine he will be bigger, faster, stronger. I personally love Dion Jordan and can't wait for this year. All I'm saying is relax and wait and see before criticizing.

He was the only top 5 pick on the bench.

There's a reason why he was almost universally viewed as the top defensive player in the draft last year and he showed flashes of it last year. I believe he can be a difference maker but he'll need to show it this year with more consistency. Still think his more natural position would be as OLB in a 3-4 but......

Shoulder injuries get placed on special teams kick-offs?

That's what I never understood about the whole situation. He was healthy enough to run up field full speed and take that kind of contact, but not on defensive sets?

Personally, I think that says he's more "raw" than people realize. He may be a freak athletically, but there's a lot that needs to be developed upstairs in regards to the game. Hell he really didn't play the amount of snaps in college you would've thought.

I remember arguing last summer that last year was a "red shirt" year for Jordan. Many disagreed. However, looking back, it essentially was. Now this year he can show more what he can do. I like the kid and hope he does well.

If u have to so calledly redshirt a pro drafted 3rd in the entire draft then you took the wrong guy

Ireland did....poor scheme fit, but that's not Jordan's fault and doesn't diminish his talent or potential.

Funny thing is the defensive coaches said why he did not get on the field more but fans of course want to believe whatever makes them sleep better.
He may get better , im sure he will but if he played special teams he was healthy enough to play , he just wasn't good or enough or ready enough as a player

Maybe. However, he did show some flashes early. I guess I am more patient than you with young players.

That's your opinion and I agree he is a poor scheme fit but in no scheme do I see him as the third best player in that draft. I would not have drafted him at 12 with the players left on the board.
Actually poor scheme fit does diminish his potential with us and his talent is far from being so far above so many other players in the draft. I wish we would quit drafting people based on how they look in shorts.

Its not about patience, people want to reflect on the good plays and ignore all the plays he did nothing. He did play in 25 percent of the defensive snaps of the defense and people want to act like somehow the coaches for some stupid reason did not want to use their third pick in the draft just because he was a rookie. He was lost against the run and the coaches admitted that. I never thought that much of Jordan in the first place and people that think he is the next Jason Taylor are really stretching it. Im patient with Ryan Tannehill because he actually beat out players for his position, its not lack of patience its lack of thinking Jordan is anything special

in other news, i have also started working out at the gym and should be in good shape to watch the next lousy Dolphins season.

It is about patience. He was hurt with a bad injury. His trimester sked at Oregon prevented him from going to anything in the spring. He was asked to play a new position. Plus, Wake and O.V. had outstanding years. It takes time to make an impact as D-linemen in the NFL.
