Disturbing Words from Ricky

RICKY SPEAKS

This week's Ricky Williams speechifying featured this comment on what he would consider satisfactory accomplishments this season:

''I'm not here to accomplish anything. That way I can look back, I can look at the process and see how much I had a chance to grow. Because no matter what you go through in life, whether you have success or not, you still are going to grow as a person. That's what is most important.

Asked what his ideal playing weight would be, Williams said:

''It's just a number. To have a number to say what I play at is kind of ridiculous.''

This guy is trying to kick to much knowledge. The Im not here to accomplish anything statement is kind of scary. I feel him about the growth and whatnot....but he seems to not be setting goals or have some kind of end result....That to me sounds pragmatic.
who cares what he says get over it

To echo what everyone else said, those who are indifferent about ricky, we don't care what he says off the field as long as his actions are loud on the field. To those who don't like ricky, you guys can't help yourselves, you are going to look for anything bad in anything he does in hopes of justifying your dislike of the man.

I disagree, i care what he does off the field, especially when it comes to having to take pee test every month. What i would say is is that we dont have a TO here, what we have is someone who is different and is actually a humble person compared to alot of athletes out there. If you find what he says a little mystifying, so what? All I know is he can turn on a dime and is tough to bring down.

Hey man he can say whatever he wants so long as he helps our team in any way. I don't care what he says. He's on the team to run the ball, so let that action do the talking instead of his mouth!

Get over it.. Let the man think what he thinks. If on sunday he is on point who the F cares what he thinks about arbitrary items

Honestly, I could care less about philosophical rants. Everyone is entitled to express their opinions on life, work, the world, etc. All I care about is that he comes to play every Sunday, works hard in every practice and stays out of trouble.

And that's the bottom line!

I don't see why some take issue with Ricky's comments I really don't. Just because he doesn't speak the football culture's dialog doesn't make him any less relevant.

He's just here to run, do his job. Numbers and goals, and pressure aren't going to make him do his job any better. He's just playing the game he enjoys, he's being free. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if he puts up huge numbers this year.

well said.
As long as he doesn't speak those disturbing words of "I Quit" again...

Don't try to bend the spoon, because there is no spoon

I think it all goes back to Ricky's childhood, when he use to play football without a helmet on.

He's just one of a few players in the league that you just have to ignore what he says and just let his playing ability do the talking.

He'll never really make any sense and he admits his best friends don't even understand him. The guy is an enigma.

Few!?!?!?

I'd say its best to ignore what 90% of them say.

RICKY SPEAKS:

When asked by a Palm Beach Post reporter how many yards he expected to rush for this season.

Ricky - " My cats breath smells like cat food."

Some of you have to relax and not buy into much of this stuff....That is just Ricky's personality. He is laid back and really isn't the type of person that likesto show off...what do we expect him to say "Yeah, I'm hear to tear up the league in yards"....that's just not Ricky and we should know that by now. He doesn't talk, he lets his actions speak.

I think he is purposely avoiding a direct answer because the media will take it out of context anyway. He CAN'T win.

as long as run ricky run is in effect on sunday, i couldn't care less what words pop out of his mouth.
