Disturbing Words from Ricky

I think he's great. Of course I was upset when he quit, any fan would be.

Just because he talks in tongues and nobody understands him doesn't make it dangerous or scary, he's just a different guy. More people should be individuals and think out of the box, especially the damn football analysts and media lemmings.

at least he is humble and doesn't talk about himself in the 3rd person like most high profile athletes these days.

what IS disturbing is what the media finds disturbing. What is crazier, a person that does a press conference barefoot and genuinely tries (albeit confusingly) to describe his feelings, or T.O. doing situps in his driveway grinning ear to ear saying "no comment" and "T.O. needs love".

In this day and age when we're supposed to be more open-minded about evertyhing, we scrutinize a guy that is humble, introverted and a damn good football player.

Don't knock something you don't understand, it just shows your ignorance.

I disagree, i care what he does off the field, especially when it comes to having to take pee test every month. What i would say is is that we dont have a TO here, what we have is someone who is different and is actually a humble person compared to alot of athletes out there. If you find what he says a little mystifying, so what? All I know is he can turn on a dime and is tough to bring down.

Really?.. did you need to throw in his testing into this. You didnt need to twist his words around about how he doesnt care what he does off the field. No need.

thats just typical Ricky logic.. He has that eastern view of life now.

A question to Rickty might be...So Ricky whats your favorite color? "Well what really IS color? it's just the bending of light into something that our mind sees as color, but does color really exist?"

See what I mean it's Ricky logic.

I find that he just tries to be standoffish with the media, and has new intellectual ways of keeping them on their toes. He rarely answers a question with a typical answer that an athlete normally gives, but re-explains the question back to the person asking it.
Example: Ricky, why are the dolphins wearing teal uniforms?
Answer: Teal is just a word used to describe the shade that you see on the uniforms. What one person sees is not necessarily what the other person sees. I try not to use words like teal, orange, white etc. because they just restrict what you see by tagging it with a single word.

I'm not knocking RW forthis because I find it refreshing compared to the way we usually see press conferences go, kind of the way I love Saban's sarcasm toward the media. I'm just saying, don't be disturbed by the colorful way RW dodges putting expecations on himself, when he is already too much in the spotlight. He's just doing what any smart athlete in this awkward situation would do, but in a more colorful way IMO.

That is Ricky just being his new spiritual self. It is a bit funny really if you enjoy idiot reporters getting a hard time. There threy are trying to show he is under weight and he gives them nothing. Maybe they should ask "what is something you feel you are bring to the team that you did not before, how have you grown?" Let him play with that.

I'll start by saying, I really only wanted RW back to get a trade for him once his stock goes up again, and am very relieved that we have Ronnie so we don't solely depend on Ricky as in the past.

That said, I never had a problem with RW the person. I just worry that he could quit again, but now that we have Ronnie, I'm not so worried anyway. I agree that Ricky is very different from TO. He is humble and intelligent and shows sensitivity. I know many people could care less but you are right, he's most llikely a good person who is just not comfortable being a celebrity. To craves attention, whereas RW dislikes it.

IMO Ricky made a big mistake, but TO makes them over and over again. TO thinks he is bigger than the game and RW tries to be as little as possible because he dislikes the attention. I think at a party you'd want to talk to RW but he might not say much, and TO you'd wish you could ask to leave because he won't shut up.

Just look at the results...Ricky has always played hard and that has never been a question. Even last week in Jax we got a glimpse of the "old-Ricky". He will be fine. Reporters keep beating a dead horse with all these questions about weight, expectations, goals, etc....We get it....Ricky is different....move on.

Honestly, I could care less about philosophical rants. Everyone is entitled to express their opinions on life, work, the world, etc. All I care about is that he comes to play every Sunday, works hard in every practice and stays out of trouble.

Exactly

I think he'll do something he did pritty good at the last preseson game.

Good picture, that must have been taken right before the rookie defenders shoes went flying off! LOL

or better yet, what is a defensive line? Do they really exist? Or can I just run to the glorious endzone untouched? Are those guys figments of my imagination? If I concentrate hard enough I should be able to Run Ricky Run and nothing else!

RICKY SPEAKS

This week's Ricky Williams speechifying featured this comment on what he would consider satisfactory accomplishments this season:

''I'm not here to accomplish anything. That way I can look back, I can look at the process and see how much I had a chance to grow. Because no matter what you go through in life, whether you have success or not, you still are going to grow as a person. That's what is most important.

Asked what his ideal playing weight would be, Williams said:

''It's just a number. To have a number to say what I play at is kind of ridiculous.''

This guy is trying to kick to much knowledge. The Im not here to accomplish anything statement is kind of scary. I feel him about the growth and whatnot....but he seems to not be setting goals or have some kind of end result....That to me sounds pragmatic.

Ricky was always a different cat in the first place. Now, he's so different, the cats have kicked him out completely. This is just Ricky being Ricky now. The bottom line is he's going to play hard and results will come. No worries!

Growth can be altered by one's perspective. What I'm looking at is where I go as a person rather than how I grow. If I expect to grow I am setting myself up for disappointment and unhappiness so I will not dwell on my growth.
