Do you really want to compete with at least 6 other owners for a better HC?

On the other hand, which one of those coaches you just mentioned, would you have kept if changing the coach is so wrong? Would we have been better off with them still here? You keep a coach if you think he is still the right guy, not for fear of change.

No, our HC was the one that has beat both those guys.
 
Earlier I was listening to sports talk radio here in the D.C. area and they were talking about the 6 vacancies that were available and what job is the most enticing.

If I called in I would've said:

1. Houston
2. Detroit
3. Washington
4. Tampa Bay
5. Minnesota
6. Cleveland

Houston is first because they were good last year, they have some good talent in Foster, Andre Johnson, J.J. Watt and J. Joseph. Oh and they have the first pick.

Detroit is second because they might be a head coach away from actually being really good. They have talent too in Stafford, Bush/Best, Calvin Johnson and a money D-line.

Washington is third because they have a decent QB in Griffin, Alfred Morris, and Pierre Garcon.

Tampa Bay is fourth because they'll have a high draft pick. Glennon isn't a franchise guy though and they only have talent on offense in Martin and Jackson.

Minnesota is fifth because they have no QB.

Cleveland is last because it seems they have a new coach every year.

Now if Philbin was let go, where would I place him in that list without being a homer? I'd say third above Washington. Mid-round 1st pick, average OL at best, and draft picks who don't see the field (be it Ireland's fault, the coaches, etc.). I like Tannehill, I like the combo of Hartline, Wallace, a healthy Gibson and Clay/Keller on the field together. Dion Jordan needs to see the field a lot more and they need a better safety too.
 
Don't keep Joe because someone may want him. Keep him because you feel he's The Guy. But no one here does.

This team mirrors the coaches personality. Sad.

Harbaughs team- fights hard. Carrolls team- plays to set scoring records every game. Belichiks team-Crafty and goes for the throat. Etc. Etc.
 
I am not getting into the idea of new coach because Joe is coming back. It is stupid exercise.

In time, we will debating the new GM and OC. Do I think if the GM and OC change that Joe should stay? Heck no. I will make that clear just like I said the house needed to be cleaned when Sparano was swept out in 2011 (I thought all should have gone the year prior). However, Joe will stay on.
 
I still think we should give Philbin a full 3 years. But if they want to get rid of Sherman, ok fine with that.

Good point. We do keep hiring ****ty NFL coaches. We should really stop doing that.
 
How can you say that step. All those teams have better personnel that we do at this moment. You want this team to do better, get more involved with competition committee. With the exception of New England, the other coaches you mention all step in after each team had and abundant of low draft picks.

You are right we shouldn't. We should wait for a year when no other team fires any coaches or GMs. We have nothing to offer besides no state income tax, sunshine all year round, super modern trainings facilities. :crazy:

The reason why we were not lucky because we picked crap all these years. We should search until we have no crap. I don't care if we go through another half dozen coaches and GMs if we eventually find the right people. Or we trust insiders who give us advise (aka Wayne disregarding advice from former GM Wolf which was the biggest mistake this franchise has ever done).
