I am not getting into the idea of new coach because Joe is coming back. It is stupid exercise.

In time, we will debating the new GM and OC. Do I think if the GM and OC change that Joe should stay? Heck no. I will make that clear just like I said the house needed to be cleaned when Sparano was swept out in 2011 (I thought all should have gone the year prior). However, Joe will stay on.

You are probably right but what are your convictions that make you think Philbin stays? TB just let go their GM and HC and they were 5 year and 2 year guys like ours. Just curious.

While I am not in love with Philbin, I can live with him IF we fire Ireland and Sherman. We need a better play caller. PERIOD. We also need a GM who isn't going to continually waste picks. Philbin is never going to be Mr. Excitement, but we don't need a rah rah fist pumper like Sparano, just a smart guy who can manage things.

I seriously think that will NOT happen. The man is tied to the hip with him like Don Shula was tied to Tom Olivadotti if not even more so.

I think Shula and Olivadotti were good friends. Here, now, Sherman and Philbin are more like father and son. So, I think if Philbin stays, you get the whole package of Sherman wrapped up in a neat bow.

MAYBE....maybe IF Sherman himself decides to QUIT can Philbin let go. It'd have to be something like Sherman says he's retiring and no one can change his mind. But Philbin firing him, no way.

Think long and hard because we have been on this train before. As of now you have Washington, Cleveland, Detroit, Minnesota, Houston, and Tampa Bay are ALL looking for head coaches. If that's REALLY what you want then get ready for thinking the coach you want is going to sign here only to learn that he signed somewhere else and was only using Miami to drive up his value.

Wanny, Cameron, Saban, Sparano, we keep doing the same thing OVER and OVER again and getting the same results. Tell me how it's not nuts to want to do it all over again?

How is this any worse than keeping a coach that couldn't figure how to beat Buffalo even once this year with a third string qb.

This is exactly where I'm at. My theory is that because of Philbin's history with Sherman, he has too much respect and reverence for Sherman to disagree and over-rule him on the play calling. Treating him like a co-head coach instead of being his boss. If true, it is fair to say that this is Philbin's flaw. But I don't think firing him is the solution. Bring in a different OC that Philbin doesn't have a personal admiration for and lets move on.

Agreed. Yet, another example of why you should not do business w/ friends or family. Cronyism has held this franchise back since Jimmy left.

why change some fans here love mediocrity. yet Im called a Debbie downer because I call it as it is.
I want some of the drugs some of these guys are on. At beginning of year I predicted 8-8 and much to my chagrin we went 8-8. I don't wish for 8-8 that's what I saw.

A) We need a battering ram FB who can catch when needed. Not signing Leach was a disaster. It was in our hands and we got too cute.

Again, I'm on the fence with Philbin. But for me, firing Philbin is more about starting over. And I think we need to give this one more year before we do that AGAIN.

This is exactly why Philbin needs to be fired! These issues that needs to be fixed were directly caused by Philbin in his attempt to build his "perfect" team. He's as clueless building a team as he is in running one. He wanted a different defensive scheme and philosophy, and now they can't stop the run. He took a Top 5 run defense and turned it into a Bottom 5 run defense. His perfect offense uses short passes to replace the run; no need for a FB. How did that work out? Sparano had Lousaka "Automatic 1st Down" Polite. Philbin has a running game that needs 3 tries to convert a 3rd and inches.

Firing Philbin is the only solution; hiring him in the first place was a huge mistake.

How can you say that step. All those teams have better personnel that we do at this moment. You want this team to do better, get more involved with competition committee. With the exception of New England, the other coaches you mention all step in after each team had and abundant of low draft picks.

I think the only other two teams with better upside on that list are Detroit and Houston. I like the talent this team has and I would think it would be a good situation for a young head coach...just as long as that coach has some fire in hit gut and will motivate the team to do better.

Why not let me look at this situation. If MIA was to fire thier coach and GM this is how I would rank them in according to the other teams.

Houston - Best job OPEN IMO. Top pick to get your QB you want, and a heck of a defense. (think this is O'Brien anyway so unless you wanted him you are really not competing with them)
2nd (tied) - Detriot and MIA - Both seem to have franchise QBs. Both seem to have good players in place, if I was to give an edge here I would have to give it to MIA, because of better cap space, and not a bunch of undisciplined players on their Roster.
3rd - Minny - New stadium, AP and a pretty decent Roster
4th - TB - Depends if they like Glennon (sounds like Lovie Smith)
5th - CLE - Lot of Picks, decent talent on defense and arguablly a stud at WR in Gordon
6th - Washington - Medling Owners turn off coaches, Dallas would be here too because of that.

Then if I mention Oakland and Tenn, I think they fall

Tenn would be 4th
Oak would be 5th

Really based on this I would see you REALLY competing with Winny, Detriot, Clevland and Houston.
