Doctors Say Tua NOT At Risk For More Concussions

He did not have many months of rest, as he is and will be getting this off-season.

I am a Tua fan, and ashamed to admit when he came back only a few weeks from that vicious cheapshot bodyslam in the Bengals game, I was very happy to see him back, but truthfully he might have gained far more from resting at least 2 more weeks.

The Tua before the hit vs the Bengals was far different then the Tua after. Tua for the most part played well when he came back, but he was still not the same QB he was in the 1st three weeks.

The off-season rest will do him a lot of good.
Ehhhh. The 5 game stretch after the concussion was the most consistent tua has ever played.

I thought once you got a concussion you were more prone to getting concussions? Is that misinformation?
Although I am an infectious diseases specialist, I am crossed trained in Critical care and neurology......what I do know from my limited understanding on the subject and my experiences with concussions as a tight end are that:

1) you MAY be more prone to concussions after receiving them, but this is based on how close the concussions are to each other. Tua will have had the off season to heal and to not have sustained concussions and the time between concussions grows reducing the likelihood of this being a factor.

2) everyone is different and their capacity to sustain concussions and recover from them are different. Would Tua have had a 2nd or 3rd (if you believe he had three ) concussion if he hadn't had the first or would he have had that 2nd concussion anyways? Nobody knows.

If we can just get a full season of healthy Tua next year, we're gonna win at least one or two playoff games. The most important thing is that if he gets a little banged up next year, it's early in the season so he's riding high into the playoffs.

We need a qb who can take a hit. Tua is not the one. If he comes back next year it will be the same thing again. He is just too fragile.

Wasn’t this already a thread?

As I wrote in the last one, this doesn’t subtract from 3 issues:

1) I’ve never seen a QB take more awkward falls than Tua.

2) Now that the league has made Tua it’s poster boy, don’t start complaining when they keep him on the sideline for a hit that doesn’t seem any where near a concussion to protect the NFL shield.

3) EVERY time Tua takes a hit we, even the Atheist and Agnostics (nothing wrong with it) amongst us, will all be praying fervently. We will forever watch Tua with panic because it is the lot in life of a Dolphins fan to suffer and be torchered.

Tua showed too much brilliance not to be our starter but if you’re happy about the situation YOU should get checked for concussions.

BTW, I know you Tua arse-lickers HAVE to find solace in something but a DOCTOR wanted to operate on my heart in the ER. I declined, had a sonogram of my heart and was told that they could not find anything that required surgery. Also, a hospital almost killed my father with an injection. He flat-lined and had to be resuscitated. And the crème de la crème: my brother will graduate this year from Med school. My brother- one of the biggest idiots I have ever met.

Favre had concussions. Mahomes has had a couple concussions in his short career. Marino had them as well and even filed a lawsuit about it in 2014. Aikman had concussions so did Peyton and Eli. Guess you would have deemed them all too fragile too.

The throws he made the 1st three weeks were the best he ever looked.

Tua was not 100% after he came back, but I agree he looked far more consistent then he ever did, even if at times he placed the ball in areas he never would have in the 1st three weeks.

Yeah. I think I'll go with what the neurologist says. You want who at QB instead?

Simply stating the current article to help those who want to play Web Md and then say go get Lamar Jackson or Captain Avocado.
What's funny about the LJ hype (aside from the fact he ain't going nowhere) is he's another QB where durability is a concern.

So you're telling me you don't want Tua, despite the fact he took a MASSIVE step forward this year, because he can't be trusted to stay on the field (13 games in 2021 and 13 games in 2022).

All right then, and your brilliant plan is to replace him with a QB who would cost a ton of guaranteed money and draft capital and who has also struggled to stay healthy and on the field due to injury (12 games in 2021 and 12 games in 2022), ie: even less games played than Tua.

Makes. Total. Sense.

You know I wasn't saying to get LJ right?

Of course! I wasn't referring to you, but other posters I've seen pounding the table for LJ on the forum. I just think it's funny to see them claim that we have to move off Tua due to injury concerns, only to state two seconds later that we need to target another QB with injury concerns, who has been on the field even less than Tua these past two seasons.

Tua had more than 2 in one year. He is the type of player you just breath on him and he will get hurt. He had 3 this year actually. One of them taken out in a stretcher. For his own sake he needs to retire.

Refresh my memory, running back from Cal, went to the lions without looking him up that is all i can remember..?

You can hope that Tua gets enough rest and is able to come back and be concussion free but Best sustained 2 concussions his senior season at Cal, the second one was severe where he went into the fencing position like Tua.. He was drafted by the Lions in 2010 and played his rookie season without a concussion. So he had more than a year without one. Best’s 2nd season in the league he suffered a concussion in a pre season game and then a second concussion in game 4 of the regular season, which ended his career.

For your own sake you need to get another favorite team because Tua is going to be the Miami Dolphins quarterback no matter if you like it or not.
