Does A New GM and OC Matter Much?

Yes.

A new GM might actually fix this OL. He might even do so without creating 2 new holes.

Ireland was constantly doing this. He would fill in a hole that he created the year before. Dump Marshall, sign Wallace. Dump Dansby and Burnett, sign a down grade in ellerbee and Wheeler to the same money going forward. Draft Long and dump him for martgina. On and on. I swear he was on Robert Kraft's payroll too. Glad he is finally gone.

The team didn't offer him much money. Seattle did. That was known at the time, as Flynn's father was interviewed and even came out and said, Matt wanted to be there and the team just didn't make him a competitive offer.

Point was that Philbin sure sounded like he wanted Flynn.

Wow, interesting if true...

Where is the link backing up your claim. Don't want to be accused of making stuff up like they do Armando... Just say-in'

old articles. We met with David more than any other prospect, and during the draft it was reported that we tried to trade back intou round 1 (Ireland wanted Nick Perry, Philbin wanted David)

And I dunno about other people, but I don't think Armando makes stuff up. I think since Ireland has been fired it's fairly evident that he's doing what he can to make Dawn Aponte and Joe Philbin look like the villains, but I think there is some truth in his articles. You just have to look at the other writers with Miami ties to get a less jilted version.

Maybe he did, at the right price. I tend to think that maybe he didn't, and he was trying to prop Matt up publicly to make it look like Matt wasn't spurned.

Regardless, we know that Jeff Ireland and Joe Philbin had an awful working relationship and that Jeff was more than willing to saddle Joe with players that Joe absolutely didn't want starting for him in order to make himself look better as a GM. See: Martin, Jonathan.

It's entirely possible that Joe wanted Matt Flynn and Ireland pushed for a 1st round quarterback in order to buy himself more time on the job.

Pretty much agree but, thought he did pretty well overall in FA in his 4 years having final say, and we do have a fair amount of young talent. Tannehill and now Jordan are the keys to what was done.

One funny thing I noticed in looking at the OL FA is that the guys I really want in Collins and Schwarts were late round picks who did nothing for 4 -5 years, and are now in demand for big money. Patience is a good thing.

Makes sense, and we thought Sparano had problems with Ireland?

BLAST FROM THE PAST. Anyone remember guys named Shula and Marino?

Shula was no GM but, may have made the worst decisions in the draft and FA ever. Marino was no OC, and have to think that he told whoever it was to STFU if he disagreed with him, and called whatever he wanted.

We were not winning SB's but kept knocking on the door and winning. Phans were happy, not thrilled but, happy.
