Does anyone think we got worse at any position this year?

I don't think we got significantly worse on any unit although kicker could be.
Linebacker I think we did downgrade because Misi is better suited to his former position and you still have Ellebee and wheeler as bottom rung linebackers with little depth at this point(McCain and Tripp may provide that)
DL is same for most part.
LT is definitely an improvement, James may be an improvement the guards are not
Wr should be better
RB should be better
QB the same
TE the same
Corner cant say upgraded yet
Safety same

The comparison should be made to how we were at the start of last year, not the end of last year. At the start of last year we had two top OL guys we don't have now, Pouncey and Richie. We thought Jerry was poised for breakout. We know we're better at LT now. Also, at the start of last year we thought Wheeler and Ellerbee were big upgrades, and we thought Wallace was going to blow the doors off. Also thought Dion was a stud. Since we now know better on these guys, we're worse at those positions in that respect.

You make a good point but Incognito who has been a good guard in the league but he has never been a top guard, he did get voted to probowl as an alternate but that's always sketchy.

After going 8-8 on what should have been a 10-6 season does anyone thing we legitimately got worse at any position this year? In my opinion offensive line is much improved with Albert, James, and even Smith looked nice against Dallas. Wide Receivers are much improved with the addition of Landry and getting Gib back from injury. Getting Moreno to go with Miller vastly improves our running Backs. Hopefully Lazor will improve Tannehill and the offense in general. D-line is arguably a wash depending if you think Big Paul was a better fit than Mitchell. Linebacker is a wash, I believe Finnegan is an upgrade as Patterson couldn't stay on the field, and Delmas and Clemons are both pretty average.... one can hit and one can cover. My point is do you think we did enough to get those extra two to three wins to put us over the top? Thoughts?

Excellent Question....I think as a team we are better, I think the only areas for concern are RB Moreno health, Secondary- can Delmas stay healthy and can Finnegan become closer to the player he was 5 yrs ago, I loved the rotation we had last yr when Patterson was healthy, Wilson and Carroll played well for us last yr in that role and actually played well when they had to start.....DL is a concern but depth is good, LB still suck but we may have options if we decide to bench our starters later in the yr. Place kicker is a concern... I think our Offense is much better if we stay healthy but our D is weaker than last yr but as a whole the front office is putting together on paper a better team this yr than last, lets see if the results show on the field

And a poster made a good point about coaching staff which can't be ignored, so far Lazor looks like the real deal, the OL coach is the real deal those two improvements alone can win another game....

No, we have not regressed in any position grouping. The only question is whether Tannehill will struggle running this offense. I do not believe he will regress, but it is possible.

If the QB is the same, which is a real possibility and he could actually be worse if those dropped INT stats average out to bite him in the ass, then everything else is probably moot anyway.

It can always be worse ... be an optimist! :)

We definitely got worse at safety, but I think people are seriously underestimating the CBs. Other than that we either stayed the same or improved on just about every other unit.

LOL!! at the notion that we didn't get worse at any position. You could debate we got worse at RG, S, CB, DT, and C considering we will be missing Pouncey for a while.

Agree that we are better at WR and RB

RG....You really think none of the impending guards we have right now can at the very least be as good as John Jerry? I Disagree.

S......For the 1st few games I agree, but I believe the answer is season, so once Jones comes back, with Delmas we should be better.

CB...The way Finnegan has been looking, add to that Davis and Taylor healthy and showing huge potential, this is a much better group.

DT...I agree losing Soliai will hurt our run defense, but with Mitchell there will be much better pass-rush from the middle.

C.....Like safety, yes this will hurt a bit for a while, but once Pouncey gets back, having Samson (Who's looked pretty good) as the backup is an upgrade

QB is looking very shaky down the depth chart. Moore is a year closer to being done and we have no guy to develop. Devlin's injury has killed this preseason. This tomato guy needs to be cut before the game ends.

It's preseason. Do you really see other team's 3rd QB's lighting it up out there? Most of the guys who don't look bad ironically are going to get cut because they are veterans and the team is only going to keep two QB's.

I think that Michael Thomas is underrated and could become really good. He made possibly the best single play of the against NE by stripping Amendola on a sure TD then came back with the game-sealing Int. He made those plays with sheer ability and desire; tells me he has the intangibles to be a great defensive back. Some things you can't teach.
Also, my viewed sample-size might be small but I like Finnegan. He was once a legit 'CB1' so he definitely had 'it' at one point and probably is capable of being a good 'CB2'. As the season progresses, the Taylor v Davis battle for CB3 will push them towards being Very solid by mid season, IMO. Taylor's college film shows Really good things and I think that will keep coming out as his career progresses and Davis just exudes hunger and self-belief.
