Does Sparano get canned if Fins get off to slow start?

If Bill Cowher or Jon gruden or even Jeff Fisher arent in the plans to be the head coach lets keep Sparano I'm sick of all these rookie head coaches and we need stability at the head coaching position.

if this thing were to start say 0-4 i could see sparano getting the axe during the bye week...it will be ugly around here and in the media if we start out even 1-3...but 0-4...tear the roof off this sucker

Whether it's early or not it doesn't matter really. Sparano will get axed at the end of the season, or by the end of the season.

The important thing is that buffoon will be gone before the 2012 season starts - as this team certainly won't be sniffing the playoffs this year

i dont think ross will fire tony after the debacle this past winter when he was trying to hire harbaugh before he even fired tony. he had to have made a deal with tony to keep him all year whether we start 0-4 or 4-0 after that mess just to make him happy, and as for next year i like nolan and think he would be a great head coach. And when we are winning games this year it will be because of the defence.

Sparano sat in limbo while Ross courted Harbaugh...If the boss has no respect for you, you'd better believe you'd get fired after a few losses...

Sparano should have been replaced during the off season.

This season will be one of our worst seasons in franchise history.

How can you not address the obvious QB situation....?

I hope I'm wrong, but in all these years, I haven't been wrong, with the exception of Chad Pennington, who I thought we were out of our minds for getting him, but he won the AFC East for us, so I was wrong then.

I argued then, he was too injury prone to take this sort of risk and that we should avoid him.

So, does one great season make me wrong, perhaps, but where is Chad now (Pennington)...?

Nolan is not an NFL head coach? Um okay guy and Sparano is? Based on what? Nolan is a defensive genius, he will always be a defensive coordinator MINIMUM in the NFL. Sparano gets fired and he might not even get an offensive line coach job in the NFL with how bad the Dolphins line has been the past two years. Nolan will get another shot at head coach and he will succeed. We will be retarded if we let him go to another team and I think Ireland is aware that if things goes bad he needs to give Nolan a shot. Just because Nolan had a bad outing in San Francisco does not mean he is not a head coach.<br>

This team threw in the towel on Sparano at the end of last season. If that happens again this year it's over.

Either way Sparano will be canned this year after another losing season tethered to our resident sloth... Chad "stare down my primary read on every snap" Henne

Gruden needs a strong GM.

Anyone who would want Gruden without him having a separate and legitimately autonomous GM is stupid. Gruden played musical chairs with nearly everyone in Tampa, ticking off management, players, and fans alike, and practically building a new team from free agents every year.

Also, I was never really that impressed with Gruden's offenses in Tampa (and I live in the area). For being an offensive guru, his offenses were always mediocre and horribly inconsistent.

No to Fisher. He's gonna wanna install a boring, old school style of offense. Run, run, pass, punt for field position.

im so tired of people bashing sparano. he did not draft henne. the tuna did. i think he has done a damn good job coaching this team from 1 n 15. it is true the o line needs to get better and fast. i love jake long as much as anyone but if we pick matt ryan with the first pick like the TUNA didnt do we would be a true contender. but sparano is going to be the whipping boy for this lack of a qb and im going to hate to see him go because he will be let go after this season. hell ross tried to hire a couple of people this offseason but missed like he did the orton trade. this hole thing is one big mess....... sorry tony

i dont think sparano gets canned with a slow start, only way i see an in-season firing is if we start 1-7 or 2-6 as a poster stated before...nolan would be a fine candidate but i have a question?

wtf has jeff ireland done to become Teflon Don...he's as much to blame as sparano and parcells is for this mess, if he becomes the reason we dont get a REAL coach in here like cowher, or maybe even gruden that would be preposterous...the guy has signed off of spending upwards of 170 million dollars on this STILL mediocre offensive line, he has turned away various Free Agents with his piss-poor business ethics, done a mediocre job in each of his drafts, and has failed in getting us a Franchise QB...Marshall and Dansby were his only positive moves and both were no-brainers...if sparano goes, so should irish...

I would like to change my opninon if Bill Cowher is not our next coach we need to keep Sparano we need consistency at the head coach poistion.

What is the definition of a slow start? If he is going to be fire mid-season, I think it is going to have to take a 1-7 or 0-8 record. I truly do not see Ross making any in season changes if things go bad, I think he will let Sparano finish the season. The worse thing for this team is if the Dolphins start off real bad, Ross fires Sparano, names Nolan interim coach, and Nolan does just enough to get the job at the end of the season. Mike Nolan is NOT a NFL head coach. I think even with a bad season, Ireland will be retained, which means you can kiss guys like Cowher and Gruden goodbye. Maybe Jeff Fisher.

With all that said, I do not see a slow start, I also don't anticipate a coaching change during or even after the season.

Disagree Nub. If we are 0-4 at the bye, Sparano will not be here for game 5. Thats the way it is going.
