Does Sparano get canned if Fins get off to slow start?

Clearly Sparano is on a short leash - and he should he screwed up too many times - hopefully he learned from his mistakes

grudens no better at finding a QB....He might even be worse. However,I do think Ireland will be a very good GM one day,and is on the right path but if he's the only speedbump to getting Cowher,I dunno how you dont make that move.Sorry......

Gruden was actually the other moron in the top 5 05 draft picks who decided to stand pat with already retread Brian Griese..and had Aaron Rodgers slip right through his hands. (still don't know if that's better or worse than going with Gus "head banger Frerotte). Whenever he gets his next HC gig, he should be tithing half his pay to Tony Dungy.

If they are 0 for or 1-2 wins after 8 I say he's gone.

ireland probably is the reason cowher wouldn't come here...and that sux...but yeah i think we could see sparano fired by week 10 if this thing nose dives and nolan promoted on the interim basis...at least initially

oh...and no thanks on gruden

I agree with you on Gruden which is why IMO Gruden is willing to work with a GM. I also agree with you on Cowher but after going through some of these Dolphin coaches who were their own GM's I have not been impressed and at this point would prefer we keep Ireland.

What is the definition of a slow start? If he is going to be fire mid-season, I think it is going to have to take a 1-7 or 0-8 record. I truly do not see Ross making any in season changes if things go bad, I think he will let Sparano finish the season. The worse thing for this team is if the Dolphins start off real bad, Ross fires Sparano, names Nolan interim coach, and Nolan does just enough to get the job at the end of the season. Mike Nolan is NOT a NFL head coach. I think even with a bad season, Ireland will be retained, which means you can kiss guys like Cowher and Gruden goodbye. Maybe Jeff Fisher.

With all that said, I do not see a slow start, I also don't anticipate a coaching change during or even after the season.

They said the same thing about Belicheck after his stint in Cleveland.

When was the last time a sexy named coach retired or quit, then came back to actually WIN a Superbowl with their new team?

I disagree. If Sparano starts off 0-5 or 1-4, I think he gets canned during the bye week. We also have Mike Nolan on staff, who has HC experience. Ross has already said Sparano needs to win this season, so if he's going to fire him, why wait till the end of the season? We can evalutae Nolan as HC this year

You tell me I do not watch it that closely. I would put Tony Dungy on that list but I think he was fired. Maybe Don Shula if we want to go back that far.

First off......I do not like Sparano. But I will say the biggest downfall on this team is the lack of a quality QB and that rests on Ireland. Sparano has benched Henne and continually goes out of his way not to give Henne an endorsement as the sure fire starter at QB.

The offensive line has performed better then the QB.

Ireland has hit some and missed some.....but the misses at QB and the failure to attempt a real upgrade seals his fate. I hope Cowher comes aboard and would not be suprised if the talent on defense helps in the decision for his return to the NFL in Miami.

My point is that it is rare. Just because we hire Gruden or Cwher won't guarantee anything.

Actually our chances of winning a SB are better with a guy without a championship to his credit.

Don't wory about some hostorical odds.......this is not Vegas. Cowher is a better coach and football mind. He has a proven track record. Cowher absolutely gives a better chance at winning a SB than Sparano.
