Does Zach Thomas belong in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame?

Oh okay. I guess Ray Lewis didn't change the 2000 AFC Championship game pretty much on his own. Nope. He also wasn't a Super Bowl MVP. Didn't will that team at all. Look, I can't stand Lewis, but don't act like he wasn't a great player. He was.

The answer to your question is no. Jamie Sharper had two sacks and an interception , dwayne starks was shut down with two interceptions. That defense was stacked with great players. Like RAy Lewis willed a great game out of these guys that were already studs. Not sure why he gets credit for everything

Without question Zach deserved to be a first ballot Hall of Famer! The Hall of Fame was made for players like Zach.

What a fantastic athlete, teammate, and person.

Urlacher? Really?? I can so many others too, but that matters less.

To have been such an amazing performer from the first moment he got on the field to the last...

He was so undersized - and yet so reliable and strong!

Thanks for the thread.

He's in the conversation. I'd personally say he's borderline, leaning towards the positive, but
I wouldn't be really riled if he didn't make it.

If Kuechenberg and Dick Anderson don't get in...I don't see Zach getting there either.

Fair or unfair....sometimes being a part of a great team can garner you extra recognition in getting into the hall...Zach & even JT suffer in this area having never been a part of a real contender.

There was a period in time that Zach outplayed Lewis in many areas and it looked like he was going to have a career that was as good as Ray's. I just think that size eventually caught up to Zach, his smaller frame just didn't hold up as long as guys like Lewis, Urlacher etc...and that cost him in his final years.

He is a consideration and I'd love to see him get in but it also wouldn't surprise me if he didn't.

And Sam Madison. And Patrick Surtain. It boggles my mind as to why so many Fins fans revere those defenses. They did jack squat in big games. Never a big play. Always ****ting the bed in the biggest moments. The 2002 collapse in the last two games against Minnesota and New England summed up that defense. It was a paper tiger and nothing more.

That was more of an indictment of a ****ty QB and a ****ty coach.

His stats and performance just about equal those of Lewis and Urlacher, but he suffers from not being as iconic or vocal. If you compare to Urlacher's stats, they are nearly identical except that Urlacher blitzed more and Zach played more pass coverage. Turnovers are pretty close IIRC

I personally believe he belongs in the hall of fame. Though I kinda hope they hold off putting him in until Jason Taylor is eligible. I think it would really cool if they both got in at the same time.

this is bang on...paper tigers indeed...

Yes, just based on the number of tackles alone the guy had.

If there was an Over-Achiever Hall of Fame, he'd surely be in. Few if any players made more out of the limited physical gifts they had. But not sure he can be considered a great enough player for the NFL Hall of Fame. He benefited greatly from monster space-eaters Bowens and Gardener in front of him. When blockers were able to get to the second level and get a hat on him, he wasn't too difficult to take out of the play. As a result, a lot of his many tackles were 5+ yards down the field.
