Dolphins and Hickey part ways

He should never have got the job in the first place, all those rejections marked a dark day for the franchise. He was in way over his head from day 1.

However (and I mean this) he seemed a lovely man and I hope he gets a good scouting job somewhere

First time I have agreed with you in a long time. lol.

Dolphins very very likely to promote from within for GM title. Top college exec Chris Grier and assistant GM Eric Stokes top candidates

Hickey will be a GM again in the NFL...I said it in another thread, but he was set up to fail here it may not have started out that way, but once they hired Tannenbaum Hickey was basically gone. Feel for the guy as I think he did do a decent job...considering all he had to deal with in the organization.

Interesting Hickey doesn't mention Tannenbaum at all in his comments....

Why would he mention Tannenbaum? Tannenbaum is not an owner. Hickey's statement was intended for his next potential employer who would be an NFL Owner.

Hickey is now part of the NFL fraternity. As long as he plays by the rules he'll get another chance at GM somewhere. It is the way the league works.

Good luck to you Mr. Hickey.

The oncoming ****show train is gaining momentum.

Promote that director of pro personnel hes done a great job the last 2 years...deserves a bump

:tumbleweed:

Dennis Hickey is not going to be a GM again. Come on folks. He will get hired again and get a title.

Remember the stories the Bucs were going to fire him after the draft, but of course he came to Miami before that?

This was an obvious move that had to be made.

This really has nothing to do with anything, but wasn't Hickey on a 2 year deal anyway? Or did he receive an extension and i simply missed it?

Uh...because he worked for him?

If Tannenbaum can get a title again so can Hickey.

I don't know if Hickey is going to get a job as a GM again any time soon, but he did some good things and he handled himself with a good deal of grace through this crap. Unlike Jeff Ireland, of course.

He'll land on his feet somewhere, I think.

Well if he had control over the 53 man roster and draft shouldnt you love him because he signed Suh or was that part just part of the deception of our front office

Dolphins director of college scouting Chris Grier is the leading candidate to replace Dennis Hickey as Miami's GM, per league sources.

Also, I've heard Miami's open to letting the next coach bring a personnel man w/him. More on the coach search here: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...tebook-future-gms-odell-beckhams-rep-and-more

He was a hell of a lot better than some of those so called better candidates who allegedly turned the Dolphins down
