Dolphins Are A Playoff Team This Year

Yes it is an excuse, just like you make excuses for Rex Ryan only finishing 8-8 because of a lack of talent. Buffalo's d-line destroyed our QB, literally, making your d-lines performance moot.

what about the Jet game? TB game? Car game? if your QB is too soft to overcome that Buf game how can you expect him to get you over the hump?

I'm not talking about being soft mentally, I'm talking about a 300 pound man rolling on his leg ripping tendons and ****. That is what happened at Buffalo week 16, which was the result of a terrible o-line performance. I.E. TALENT!

:bobdole: Same ****, different day.
this is where it spirals out of control b/c of asinine comments like this. just participate in the discussion, one of which I have been very complimentary to the dolphins but if I don't say they are future SB champs I am bashing them!

oh so he was hurt but when mark was hurt at the end of 2011 it didn't mean anything. Did he play? he is evaluated on how he played and he was awful against us. he struggled against plenty of other teams when he wasn't "hurt" too.

Did Rex Ryan coach? If you can make excuses so can I.

On paper, the roster is improved in key areas that tanked the season last year. But I think new Achilles heels will arise in the form of the LB corps and secondary.

In addition, the AFC East is much improved over last year. I think the Jets, Bills and Dolphins will beat each other up and Brady will once again lead the division.

I don't think Philbin is good enough or innovative enough to dominate the Jets and Bills and Patriots, for this reason I think we miss the playoffs agajb

if your a dolphins fan and you don't think we are going to make the playoffs then why be a fan exactly? HELL YEAH WE GOIN TO THE SUPERBOWL Positive attitude always

I gave my opinion on where I believe our team stands as of now. I did not include any rookies as improvements, as no one has any idea of what they are going to do. I included FA but, my post was based mostly on improvements in players we had from last year. I looked at what they did last year, what they did the year before, and what I expect to be realistic on what they should do this year.

In no way can I compare our team to other playoff contenders. I know little about their players, how they all performed last year compared to the year before, how their lost and found ballances out, etc. That would be a very time consuming project to do, and I have no interest in doing it.

Bottom line, I believe that if we improve from witin, as I expect we will, that the other teams improvements will not matter. JMO

Very well could happen.

Miami lost its fastest corner, the only one who could easily cover downfield (although not the most physical CB): Carroll was solid and coming into his own. I wish we could have kept him. Replaced him with a tanked CB on the downside and expecting Jamar Taylor to step up. Which ain't gonna happen, imo. Taylor is a second round draft pick who will always be a 4-5 CB on a good team and will always be medically at risk. And depending on Will Davis. Really?

Miami also lost a fast safety -- again not the most physical or instinctive, but covered a lot of ground. Replaced him w. Delmas, a couple steps slower but more physical.

LB corps is essentially the same as last year. Better hope the light bulb came on, or the D is in potentially HUGE trouble. UP the middle and back end -- train wreck potential.

Miami needs several IFs to work right in order to have a winning record this year.

CB and S are all on Philbin, Hickey and Coyle. We paid more than double to make those changes. I give Coyle more the benefit of the doubt than the other two, and hope it works out. As to the LB's, I will bet anyone in vCash that they are much better than a year ago. I expect most will bet against Wheeler, which is fine with me.

did rex play? rex took a team most thought would win 3-4 games and he led his team to a 2nd place finish at 8-8.

So he took a playoff team and turned it into a team that most believed was a 3 win team? And you are lapping that up as if its some kind of achievement?

Our betting line was 6.5 and we won 8 games so we overachieved too.

we haven't been a playoff team since 2010. we went for it, got close twice then saw the talent erode around our QB. we will have more talent on the team than at any point since 2011 and maybe since 2010 as we enter 2014 but that wasn't the case last year.

Miami's O/U was 7.5 last year so they were right where they were supposed to be.
