Holmes, Jets put drama to rest after win over Dolphins

It was just over a week ago, prior to their rout of the Dolphins on Monday Night Football, when tensions were at a snapping point for the Jets.

The offense hadn't exactly started off fast in 2011, with the Jets ranking last in the league with 26 of their drives ending in three-and-outs. The bottled up frustrations, particularly on the offensive side of the ball, then exploded when wideout and captain Santonio Holmes dumped the blame on his offensive linemen.

The Jets needed a win bad, and the Monday night game was prefect. Problem is, the Jets offense has been sputtering and their defense cannot stop the run.

They needed a easy team to beat, someone that is so stupid they would attack the strong areas of their defense and allow the Jets to make the "big play" they needed.

Enter B "the Monster" Marshall and OC Daboll. Tom Brady would have told Bill Belichick that he was not going to throw at Revis 15 times. He is the most accurate QB in the NFL and he would not do it. Matt Moore on the other hand, has to do what he is told.

B Marshall told everyone in the world that he wanted the whole game on his shoulders. That was stupid in a couple of ways. What was even more stupid that that our HC and OC decided to do what B Marshall WANTED TO DO. Much like they do whatever R Bush wants to do.

Before our game, the Jets were a team ready to implode, then thanks to our very poor gameplan, they are again ready to explode.

P.S. I'm in NO WAY saying that the Jets were, are or going to be a playoff team, that is not the point of my thread. My point is to say that the Jets were looking like they could fall apart if they lost to us at home.

And we saved them and gave them hope.

And out of being stupid.

We tell maybe the 60th rated QB in the NFL to throw 10-12 times and for all the TDs to a unstable WR being covered by the best cornerback in the NFL. And by the way, even if Revis is covering someone else, throw his way also.

Yes, we have not been just breaking off TDs runs in the endzone(we are averaging 3.0 yards per carry with Thomas there), but then we have not really tried it much. It would be very nice if our back up QB could throw a pass to Marshall that he could somehow catch, but that does not seem to be working no matter how often we try.

P.S.S

Did we attempt more then one pass at one of our players being covered by one of their LBs? Think about it, the Jets have 3 really good to great corners. So where were the pass plays to the TEs, RBs and FB?

I can't get over these simple facts, the Jets are not good against the run but again, they have some very good corners, and not just 2, they have 3. The reason we did not see much of D Bess is because Josh Wilson owned him all night.

So within the 10 yard line, run more then you pass and you can beat the Jets.

The Jets are no closer to being a playoff team after MNF. I see them as a 7-9, 8-8 or at best a 9-7 team. No playoffs for them this year.

I agree. They are 3rd in their division lol. That was a very unimpressive win against an 0-5 team.

The funny thing is if Marshall holds onto those balls and doesn't run out of bounds the Dolphins probably win this game with that game plan. Even with the PI interception return.

Jets suck suck suck.. in that game the dolphins lost the game, the jets didn't win it

After looking average against the worst Dolphins team of all time? They will be back off it next week after a home loss to SD. Not that they were ever back on it to begin with.

I dont' ever remember hearing reggie bush say he wanted to run up the gut every touch he got.

I also don't remember throwing to brandon marshall nonstop in the redzone. I remember trying to run the ball on 1st and 2nd down and throwing to marshall on 3rd down in the endzone.

So within the 10 yard line, run more then you pass and you can beat the Jets....

I agree wholeheartedly... IF your O line can run block between the tackles which ours clearly can not. at least as evidenced by the game against the jets, where bush was swallowed whole, and DT had to break 6 tackles to gain positive yardage.

I dont' ever remember hearing reggie bush say he wanted to run up the gut every touch he got. R Bush said pretty clearly when he got here that he expected to be the feature back and that includes running between the tackles which a 3 down back does. Our HC then agreed with him.

Yes, 3 times out of 3 in the first half. It did not work the 1st time, it did not work the 2nd time (Revis ran the ball back) and it not work the 3rd.

Once again, that is one definition of insanity We did it the 3rd time for the same reason that we did it the 1st and 2nd time. To feed Marshall's ego. Does anyone else think what the reasons behind attempting a 3rd time to Marshall had anything to do with his ego?

Yes, R Bush is not the running back I'd use in short yardage on the goalline to run between the tackles. However, our rookie RB Thomas is doing fairly well this season including a decent job running in the redzone, but he has simply not been used much.

I'm just saying is that we are run blocking better now. And Thomas does run well, he is hard to bring down at times. We do not have a top 100 QB/WR combination in the NFL so maybe we should try committing to the run within the 5 yard line.

I dont think reggie bush is feature back material, that being said though, I don't think any feature back runs solely up the middle. All we do is run reggie up the middle. He has bounced it outside a time or two this season for sizeable gains. I think he has one or two swing passes as well.

again, we DID throw to bmarsh in the redzone on 3 first half possessions. I still DO NOT remember throwing to him exclusively 3 downs in a row. I am quite positive this didn't happen. I think it's smart however to throw to marshall in the endzone as I don't think we have a better threat to score with. DT has proved nothing, limited use or not. we simply refuse to use reggie outside the tackles and hartline and bess don't instill fear into my 4 year old daughter.

i realize you think we are feeding bmarsh's ego... i think we are attempting to utilize a playmaker properly. I don't give a rip what marshall said before the game. the first time revis had a great defensive play. the second was the debacle that turned pick six. the third was a ball that was a bit behind marshall, but still should have been caught.

lastly, I vehemently disagree on DT doing well this season. I like him and all, and when he's on the field he's impressed at times. than, theres the games that he misses. for a guy who wasn't hurt much in college it seems if somebody farts sideways by him, his hammy acts up and hes out a game. I think he has been average at best, to say otherwise is stretching the truth in all honesty. he missed 2 out of 5 games. has broken 100 yards rushing I believe once, and has no rushing td's.
sorry bud, I just don't see where he's doing fairly well, unless by fairly well, you mean he has played in 60% of the games this year.

3-0 in Home games against teams with a combined 3-14 record (Romo, Matt Moore, Luke McCown/Blaine Gabbert, all hot garbage)

0-3 on the Road against teams with a combined 13-4 record

all that needs to be said IMO

Sad, but we have a long way to go before we will be 8-8 again.
