Dolphins Blurbs

I don’t want him to sit out a certain portion of the season, I just want him to skip playing on certain fields like Metlife

I think the risk of reinjury is much higher on that god awful turf so I’d rather him avoid it unless it’s a playoff game or playoff clinching scenario. If it’s a random game in September than I’d be ok with him sitting out of our Metlife visit
I was mainly referring to the “sit him for the first 10 games and bring him back for important games” suggestion.

Can any of the other AFC East teams challenge the Bills?

They could, but no individual team is particularly likely to do so. Buffalo is the only AFC East team with a positive FPI rating and would be considered more than a four-point favorite over each of the other three on a neutral field. And the Bills have a 65% chance to win their division -- the highest of any team in the NFL by a hefty margin.

Of course, that leaves more than a 1-in-3 chance that someone else will win the AFC East. That's mainly due to the uncertainty of football -- the FPI might be overrating the Bills or underrating someone else, or one of the other teams could luck into the division title despite not being as good as Buffalo overall.

But that variance will always be there. In the meantime, the Bills are again in as good a position as it gets to win their division.

If we are in playoff contention heading into the Jets game at MetLife on 12/7 then I’d be ok playing Phillips, but on a limited snap count.

If we are out of contention no way. Even on a limited basis I’d be holding my breath on every play he’s in, I’d just be watching his get off and praying for the best.
That’s why you’re not involved with ANY decision making on this team EVER! But don’t get upset w me bc I’m not either - I’d do way more radical things then sit Phillips - no kicker at all on the team - all draft picks would be o lineman and d lineman…. Tua gone…Tyreek gone - little backs gone - waddle gone - and Ramsey I’d end his career today - but hey that’s why I’m not in charge!

I like your style

After the Phillips injury or before ?

Edit: looked it up it was before the 2023 season…so there were still a bunch of injuries including Phillips the past couple years even with the new turf.

"Having utilized an artificial turf called UBU Speed S5-M for the majority of its operating years, MetLife Stadium changed to FieldTurf Core HD before the 2023 NFL season. Though the surface was deemed to have more of a natural feel, it was not without its detractors. In fact, several continued to blame the Stadium turf for Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffering a torn Achilles just four plays into his Jets tenure." The Jets and Giants owners "discuss at least once a week" scrapping synthetic turf for real grass, sounds like it's more of a "when" than an "if" at this point.

No

PFF top 32 runningbacks:

9. DE'VON ACHANE, MIAMI DOLPHINS

Achane in 2023 became one of just four running backs to ever record an elite PFF rushing grade as a rookie (93.1). He followed that up with an 82.1 PFF rushing grade and an 80.2 PFF receiving grade in 2024. He also racked up the most receiving yards at the position (592).

De'Von Achane's Career PFF Grades

PFF 2009 draft redo, they have us picking Vontae Davis again, was good value for the 25th pick

Correct me if I’m wrong, 25th is the latest we’ve drafted with our own pick since 2000 right? That was the year we won the division with the Wildcat

25. MIAMI DOLPHINS: CB VONTAE DAVIS, ILLINOIS (ROUND 1, PICK 25)

The Dolphins stick with Vontae Davis here, who had stretches of dominance across his decade-long career. He earned an elite 90.9 PFF coverage grade across his 10 seasons and made the Pro Bowl in 2014 and 2015.

Reading back on this thread is hilarious. Some of you act like we have the luxury of sitting Phillips if cleared. This is the same team that got smoked by the titans last year, wake the fk up.
He’s a freak and heals faster like Dave Puloka said in the OP, he’s a responder. He will be ready to go by game 1, I would prefer we ease him in with a 25-30 snap count for the first game and see how he responds to live game action.

The only time I’d be ok with him sitting out if fully healthy would be if we are out of playoff contention and we go to Methlife.

PFF bounce back player for each team:

MIAMI DOLPHINS: WR JAYLEN WADDLE

Miami’s instability at quarterback appeared to impact Jaylen Waddle’s production more than any other offensive weapon. He recorded at least 99 receiving yards in three games — all with Tua Tagovailoa under center — but failed to top 57 yards in any other contest. His 71.5 receiving grade was the lowest of his career by a significant margin. As is often the case with the Dolphins, Waddle’s 2025 outlook is closely tied to Tagovailoa’s health. If the quarterback stays on the field, a bounce-back season should be well within reach for Waddle.

Washed.
