Dolphins, Brown Still Far Apart

19.5 million GUARANTEED. What's cheap about that?? Gallery signed last year for 18.5 I believe (no.2 overall).
The Dolphins offer is more than fair. When they drafted Brown I thought he would be among the first of the top 10 picks to sign. I thought he would have felt fortunate to be chosen 2nd overall, since there was no consensus between picks 2-5. Boy was I wrong.
Agreed, this is just ridiculous now. $19.5 million guaranteed wasn't acceptable by France and Brown. Well, now they see what Edwards got and they realize $19.5 guaranteed is accurate. Soooooo, now their gripe is "Ronnie doesn't have a chance to make $30million" With all do respect Ronnie...BOOO-EFFIN-HOOO!!!! For crying out loud, $19.5 mil guaranteed isn't going to set you for the rest of your life if you don't p1ss it all away???

Ok, I am officially pissed about this holdout. It's clear the Dolphins are trying to lowball him. Contrary to what we've been thinking, France :french: is no slouch. He does have some high profile clients like Priest Holmes and Takeo Spikes. I know the Dolphins are trying to do what's best for the organization but right now it appears to me that they are showing no belief in Ronnie.

I hope I'm wrong but I always felt Ronnie would hold out until prob the week before the reg-season started.

Saban wants to set a standard here and Ronnies agent doesn't want to be viewed as weak so all the elements are there for this to be an extended hold out IMO.

Now after saying all that we'll prob read some where Ronnie just signed.

I sure hope that happens. :)

Crap like this will ensure a hard rookie cap in the next CBA.

I just joined you about 30 minutes ago.
I getting flashbacks of Joe Robbie and his tight wallet.
I've been trying to do the wait and see approach w/o taking sides. I'm done now. With 1 & 3 done, there is no more thinking/ calculating left to do.

jesus i am begining to think that Saban and Crew are the one thats being Stiff about this.....i'm sorry but if 1 and 3 signs its very easy to have middle ground....
your talkin about A LOT of money. i dont think its ever "easy" to get the deal done. and the 19.5 that the fins have offerred him is not really close to what Smith got. he shouldnt just take what edwards made, and try to get a dollar more and sign.

i bet he wants 21 mil.

It's not about the signing bonus now. It appears to be about incentives and escalators.

What is the big rush?

To me, it is far more important that we not overpay for any player.

I totally agree with this.

would you really want sammy moris being your starting day RB?

Does that really matter this year?

Do you think it is more important for the Dolphins ORG to not screw up a long-term contract or to get a rookie HB that prob won't do anything for a couple games into camp right now while blowing up the teams CAP for years to come?

That's if you were a Dolphins fan. :D

All it's doing is hurting the team. 19.5 million isn't enough? I don't care if they offered him 2 cents and a pack of Bubble Yum to go along with 19.5. Incentives? Blah. Why incentives? You already have 19.5 million dollars GUARANTEED!!!!!!!!

i guess thats what the article says. but to me if A. Smith got 24 mil in garentees, and Edwards got 18.5 garenteed, i just dont see 19.5 mil. as being "middle ground".

to me 21.5 mil, is middle ground.

while i love to see the fins loose, i dont think the fin fans do. you saw how your run game was last season. and it looks to be the same for atleast the first 4 games this season. i dont think they should screw over there cap for the next 5 years. but i dont think it will be that bad.

Cleary, any of us would "settle" for this.
But, Ronnie's current offer incluceds incentives that would make it not probable that he could make as much as the #3 pick. This is what's wrong.

It doesn't matter what the dollar ammount is. There is a right to do business. If you pick a guy w/ the #2 pick, then suck it up and pay him #2 money.
