Dolphins claim Pats TE Will Yeatman

I love the pickup of Yeatman by the Dolphins, kid can block and should free up Fasano. Yeatman was a player I was really hoping Miami would pick up.

He was an excellent lacrosse player at Maryland! Not sure how that helps us, but he is large.

Not a surprise. I thought they might target a blocking tight end to free up Fasano to split out wide and do the pass receiving (and said so in a thread I created on prospective waiver wire pickups that has since been closed for some reason). I had focused on Lee Smith, also of the Patriots, but the poster evardteach helpfully explained that Yeatman had clearly outperformed Smith in preseason and had at times been running with the #1s, which I didn't know.

I think this strategy is the right one. I think they wanted to get an athletic guy to groom, but they missed the boat because it turns out those guys all have jobs, unless they're like Brackett in which they're so raw you can't really use them. Hopefully Yeatman will free up Fasano to get more work as a receiver, which is not a job he excels at in my view but he's certainly a lot better at it than Jeron Mastrud.

Easy money. Stated in previous threads though raw he outshined Lee Smith during preseason and can instantly come in and be our blocking specialist.

Thanks for the mention. Most of his work came during goal line situations but was out performing Smith. Smith looks to have been claimed as well by the Bills.

He is big player, raw and will be a work in progress. The best part is that he is a former Patriots player that sure will be able to help gives some tips going into week one. He will be downloaded later today.

No problem. You had the goods, you deserve the credit.

So going out on a limb here but would guess Spitler or Mitchell was cut? No way we carry 10 LB. Not that I saying we should be a slave to traditional roster spot allocation but come on.

Good to have him. NE has enough TE.

actually, i think they only have two on the roster. yeatman they were getting ready to sign to PS. good work ireland!

hahaha! dude might not make it, but what if he does? BB is so pissed right now.

Who did we cut to add him to the 53? do we have more info on this kid? always good to have a guy who can help us and have infor on what the Pats have planned for us wk 1...

im pretty sure BB told him he better not say a word or he will never work in this league again...after miami dishes him off of course. which may not happen.
