Dolphins Close With Burnett

burnett...................

i think david bowens is a starter and probably should have taken a spot from mixon. better motor and far better pass rush displayed than those other mokes outside of lo-bro. he showed something everytime he was out but will probably end up another forgoten cast off ala damien gregory and blossom with another team.

TE is a major concerne now with norvs offense. as of today, mayes severely twisted his ankle and is hobbles once again. he just seems to be a constant mishap of some sorts. i say this is a prime time to contact that jay reemshismom from buffalo. that guy can catch. could agaist us anyways!

herman moore should at least be brought in for a look see.

burnett is hobbled which seems to be a theme on this team right now. the o-line, wr's, te, gardner, chester, all gimpy and nursing stuff. now we want to bring in another gimpo geezer? what are we, the special olympics team? i think our dollars are better spent elsewhere.

Clayton that was a good post. We've got surgeries all along the OL and DL and alot of ailing players and the season hasn't started yet. The way this team runs out of gas at the end of the season it wouldn't hurt to bring in young fresh guys.

David Bowens has yet to prove that he can hold up at the point of attack. Yes, he's a great pass rusher. But in our scheme, you've gotta play the run to be a starter at LE. That's why Kenny Mixon started over Trace Armstrong and Lorenzo Bromell. Until he dropped weight last year, Mixon was stout against the run. And that's why DG is moving to LE. IMO, David Bowens can be our Trace Armstrong to Daryl Gardener's Kenny Mixon.

Unlike Damien Gregory, David Bowens has actually proven himself ON THE FIELD, IN GAMES. Gregory showed a little something in ONE PRESEASON GAME two years ago. And he developed a bad attitude. Bowens WILL NOT be a castoff from this team. He's here to stay.

Young, fresh players are not just sitting out there waiting for the Dolphins to call.....where are we supposed to find them?
For the $, and the situation, Burnett is the best available player.
I hope D. Bow and Wally Gator are better than Burnett but it would suck if they are not and we didn't sign him.

Hmm, I'll take some. Maybe even let them buy me some beer.

I'm not exactly sure where I read it, but, someone metioned the fact that we should not sign a vet DE for the minimum this year, and then NEXT YEAR, go after a STUD DL'man. That is too funny. Just how easy is it to find this "STUD" DL'man? Not very.

How many studs are out there for the taking? An even better question would be: What is our track record of signing these
"studs"? Not too good.

The point is, you just do not find a dominating player every day. Sometimes you just have to get that old proverbial "best player available". I would hate to pass up a chance to get someone like a Rob Burnett, and spend the money on a not so badly needed position as DE.

I feel we will bring in Burnett, and he will supply the badly needed vet leadership and experienced depth to this tenacious, but, sometimes overmatched and undermanned defensive unit.

Actually, Galyon starting in place of Zach scares me more than anything...

This is probably why we'll bring in Burnett. Because Wanny can't control the D after it skids. Wanny loses control of them as evident by Outbursts by Gardner and Thomas after losses. I believe they're after Burnette more for his leadership than his talent.

Grooves is correct. Our current LB situation is in more need than DE. Gardner, Taylor and Bowens is deeper and more skilled than Thomas, Galyon, and Russell.

I know I read somewhere that Hendricks will be the back-up MLB. The article said that he finally is starting to show he can play the position and play it well(he originally played safety I think). ....and if I remember correctly he did pretty good against buffalo when Zach was out.
Buffalo only had 39 yards rushing against a linebacker trio of Galyon, Hendricks and Greenwood.

I HEAR YA SHERIF!!!

I totally agree with SHERIF!! I think we need to try to sign a solid LB!! In the mold of MIKE JONES,HARDY NICKERSON,or KEVIN MITCHELL!All these guys can play inside or outside. Someone that is proven and possibly cap friendly! I just didn't like how the LB's except for ZACH played last year!! If Zach goes down the PHINS are truly screwed!! HENDRICKS,GALYON and MOORE all have alot to learn and just don't have the instincts to be a full time starter at this level! Especially MOORE, a tweener who was a DE at VA TECH!! HENDRICKS was more of a special teams demon. GALYON had some good moments I think he could push that "PUDD" Derrick ROGERS at OLB but he just doesn't have it inside! We'll see?? "THAT'S WHY THEY PLAY THE GAME!!!!!!!!!"

at least 2 more likely 3 of our backup LBs are going to need to be our best ST players - that is why we will not sign a vet. for a backup LB position

I know that's the norm in the NFL, backup LB's have to be on special teams. My point is, I would like to see some depth here with an underachieving unit(EXCLUDING ZACH), I don't believe we have it! If they can pick up a solid veteran up at a fair price, why not?? I think that is more of a priority than an old hasbeen in Rob Burnett!! He's no Trace Armstrong and I don't think he has much left in the tank after last year! Marco Coleman yes, but I am not sold on Burnett!!
