Dolphins Combine Meetings

Blocking is blocking my guy. If you can block you can play guard. Transition to OT is hard because you have to play in space, there’s no spacing at guard just blocking. Only reason a player may not be able to play guard is if they don’t have the strength vs slightly bigger players however that’s not an issue with banks.

You are also drafting for versatility. He projects great at both tackle and guard. I hope we just need guards but the reality is we have a raw unproven talent at LT and a RT thats missed 25 games in the last 3 years. I hope it’s as simple as those two working out and playing banks at guard however that’s the reality and it’s unlikely you’ll find players that have should be starter quality at both positions like banks or Membou as well later in the draft.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I would have no issue drafting Membou to replace Jackson. Obviously, you wouldn’t make the move this year as it would create another hole. However, Jackson has never been more than an average to slightly above average OT who fits our scheme. Every time he starts to build on his performances, he seems to get hurt. There are only 2 years left on his current contract and if he gets hurt again I can’t see us offering him another extension.

But the Dolphins need 4 to 5. 1 or 2 starters out of this draft will get us a top 10 pick in 2026
If we aren’t going to win a playoff game we might as well get the #1 overall pick. I would rather watch us go 0-17 than get easily beat in another Wild Card game. If only we saw the last tank through to the end we might be in a different place.

I dunno if it's unpopular or smart. But that's the advantage to drafting a Membou or Banks. Both would be expected to play G, but if Jackson or Paul need replacing, they could potentially swing over to tackle.

In a little off scenario, that's why I also like Booker. Few teams run an offense like Miami. Let's hypothetically say Miami moves on from McDaniel after this season. Miami most likely changes it's offensive scheme. Hypothetical of course, and you don't draft based on expectations of moving on from HC, but this is why I would not hesitate to draft Booker. He's not the most athletic, but he'll get the job done. We saw last year having "scheme fit" guys doesn't amount to success. So I'm still drafting Booker if all other options are off the table, as I 100% believe his short yardage blocking will more then make up for his lack of athleticism IMO.

Having a G like Booker does not mean our offense will suddenly not work. His lack of athleticism, to me is just an excuse or attempt to justify not drafting him.

If nothing else, 0% chance he's worse then Eich or Jones who were better "scheme fits"

Nonsense.
So you think 2 starters in the draft is enough?

We need 2 gaurds, a TE, a NT, a ILB, an Edge, a corner and 2 safties. That's 9 players dude.

Not to mention solid backups at QB, Tackle, DT, Edge, Saftey & Gaurd.

We have 9 million in cap space. Even with restructures that's enough to maybe land 4 starters in FA.

That leaves 5 rookies starting for the team. Only getting 2 will result in an awful 2025 season.

This isn't even debatable. We need 4 or 5 starters out of this draft or Griier and McD might as well pack their bags in May

Yea, I'm with ya, but with Grier and McD in desperation mode wete not getting the #1 pick. Top 10 maybe

I still vividly remember the Cowboys “reaching” for Travis Fredrick because no one had him on their 1st round radar. They were mocked by most media sites. He went on to start 16 games in 6 seasons before Guillain-Barré Syndrome cut his career short. He had two 2nd team all pro and one 1st all pro seasons before his medical diagnosis.

If you think a player is going to be elite at their position, pull the trigger. I don't care what position they play (outside of kicker/punter lol). If you have the chance to get someone special, F positional value. I don’t want us to draft Starks or Warren, but I can at least respect their game; if they are who we take I can respect it.

That's exactly why I want Tet if he's there. A 10 yr game changer is worth it, even if we don't necessarily need a WR in 2025.
