Dolphins Combine Meetings

Maybe....but lets look at them. Campbell stands straight up an Iowa TE used to, lets bull rushers get into his chest. Membou, I like the most, he he looks more like guard to me. At guard at 13....ooof. Banks, I think a lot of teams will try him at OT....but he is guard as well.

Why not look at guys Savaiinaea or Zabel in the 2nd. Now if you a dark horse, look at the tape on OT Charles Grant. His agility and movement skills are impressive, he hits everything he pulls for...I love him at OG.

I don’t understand the discontent in drafting a guard at 13?

It’s the second most valueable position on our offense behind qb with the way McDaniel uses them heavily in swinging out on tosses, screens and most importantly we have a pocket passer who gets the ball out quickly making inside line play more important than tackles. Tua stands a chance of getting the ball out and completing it with outside pressure, however everything is disrupted with inside pressure like last year.

Our run game goes to ****, our deep passing game goes to ****, we have probably like the worst 3rd and and 4th and short running completion % than probably any other team in nfl history.

Is it the old myth that great guards can be found later in the draft? I’m not really seeing it. This is more true for power run teams that look for big run maulers. For a finesse team like us that would value athletic pass blockers, they aren’t too common as we are mostly looking at former tackles. The best two guards of the last decade in Quentin Nelson and future hall of famer Zach martin were both first round top 20 picks.

Is it they are a cheaper position? Because again that’s not true. We just saw the most successful team in the last decade franchise their guard for 23 million and we lost our own good guard for 20 million last season to another team.

I just don’t get, it makes no sense to me, multiple people have shrugged off guard at 13 and it just makes no sense to me. It’s by far our biggest need and there’s some talented high floor players who’s scouting report label them as potential all pro guards so can someone please explain the reluctance to pick one when it’s not only our biggest need but our most important need.

I’ve mentioned him a few times, I like him a lot. We need that kind of frame.

But like a lot of guys, I’m not taking him at 48 and he probably won’t be there at 98.
Right. I think he falls somewhere in between 48 and 98. Probably closer to 48.

I like Gadsden a little later as a similar prospect. Miami needs more picks!

Will Cambell never missed a game in college, added value imo

Booker from Alabama his combine work matches the tape, slow out of his stance and his first few steps and his 1.92 10 yard split.

Its because guards, are usually failed tackles and most blocking schemes for pass protection are inside-out by design so your center guards are more protected than your tackles. I however do agree with you regarding Robert Hunt, not signing him the previous year was beyond stupid on the FO's part...

Cambell has intricacies and smarts to his game that separate him as well.

Lot of reps show me a deft knack to work with his guard and line when it comes to picking up blitzes and and passing off def players seamlessly.

So very important

Dude I've been fighting the fanbase about oline for a decade.

It's nice to see so many actually getting on board with the idea this year. Just last season I had ppl telling me to leave the site bc I was bitching about the oline, so this is actually a huge improvement over the last 8ish years or so. Some ppl will never be on board the fixing the oline, they just don't get it.

We all understand the value of the O-line/Guards.

Sometimes it's not who you take, it's who you passed over...

Great breakdown of the prospects with Dolphins on SI writer Dante Collinelli who was at the combine

UDFA is very possible. The other Bama TE Robbie Ouzts is interesting too. 6'4 and 275 lbs. Ouzts is a former wrestler and a blocking machine. Pornstache reminiscent of Harry Reems. You may not be old enough to remember Harry.
