Dolphins Combine Meetings

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I would have no issue drafting Membou to replace Jackson. Obviously, you wouldn’t make the move this year as it would create another hole. However, Jackson has never been more than an average to slightly above average OT who fits our scheme. Every time he starts to build on his performances, he seems to get hurt. There are only 2 years left on his current contract and if he gets hurt again I can’t see us offering him another extension.
Several fellows here have suggested the same. Membou could start out at RG till Ajax's contract is up. If Ajax misses significant snaps over the next two seasons let him walk. We'd have a ready replacement with 3 years of contract control.

I still vividly remember the Cowboys “reaching” for Travis Fredrick because no one had him on their 1st round radar. They were mocked by most media sites. He went on to start 16 games in 6 seasons before Guillain-Barré Syndrome cut his career short. He had two 2nd team all pro and one 1st all pro seasons before his medical diagnosis.

If you think a player is going to be elite at their position, pull the trigger. I don't care what position they play (outside of kicker/punter lol). If you have the chance to get someone special, F positional value. I don’t want us to draft Starks or Warren, but I can at least respect their game; if they are who we take I can respect it.
Frederick was one of the best centers of the past 15 seasons and made their run game go as much as Martin did. What I vividly remember was after that pick was announced one of the 3ypc "experts" made a post laughing at Jerry Jones getting hoodwinked again. Too bad that particular expert is all he presents himself to be.

Yeah that’s not true. Miami’s got 2 in the last decade alone both very good players

CB Xavien Howard, 86 games started, 4x Pro Bowler, 2x All-Pro (both teams). RAS: 4.27

WR Jarvis Landry, 116 games started, 5x Pro Bowler. RAS: 0.27

C Rodney Hudson, 143 starts, 3x Pro Bowler, 1x Second-Team All-Pro. RAS: 1.33

EDGE Za’Darius Smith, 107 games played, 3x Pro Bowler, 1x Second-Team All-Pro. RAS: 3.73

RB Dalvin Cook, 74 games started, 4x Pro Bowler. RAS: 4.65

NT Jonathan Hankins, 120 games started. RAS: 2.8

DE Arik Armstead, 85 games started, 1x highest-graded PFF EDGE. RAS: 4.9

WR DeAndre Hopkins, 145 games started, 5x Pro Bowler, 3x First-Team All-Pro (2x Second-Team). RAS: 4.9

S Quandre Diggs, 95 games started, 3x Pro Bowler. RAS: 2.23

EDGE Shaq Barrett, 69 games started, 2x Pro Bowler, 1x Second-Team All-Pro. RAS: 3.91

RB Mark Ingram, 156 games played, 3x Pro Bowler. RAS: 2.57

S Tyrann Mathieu, 137 games started, 3x Pro Bowler, 3x First-Team All-Pro. RAS: 4.32

WR Tee Higgins, 42 games started, two seasons of 1,000+ yards. RAS: 4.13

WR Diontae Johnson, 56 games started, 1x Pro Bowler, 1x First-Team All-Pro, RAS: 4.18

S Micah Hyde, 114 games started, 1x Pro Bowler, 2x Second-Team All-Pro. RAS: 4.73

LB Nick Bolton, 33 games played, nearly SB MVP. RAS: 4.77

DT DeForest Buckner, 109 games started, 2x Pro Bowler, 2x All-Pro (both teams). RAS: 3.95
If this doesn't convince guys here that RAS isn't all that plus a bag of chips, nothing will.

I wouldn't mind having Booker at all but think that 13 is way too high for him. If we trade into the last 10 or so picks of the first round then have at it. He is a great player but isn't a great fit for our offense and isn't superbly athletic. That's just not enough for the 13th pick.
If Booker lined up at LG next to the similarly massive and powerful Paul at LT, most of those 3rd/4th and 1s we've been getting stuffed on would become 1st downs. That could add up to a whole helluva lot.
As for the wide or outside zone runs, while Booker may not be ideal, he has to be better than Rob Jones. And on gap runs last season, Jones was graded by PFF as the worst G in the league at 35.0

Awful 10 yard split, shuttle and 3 cone and Ras killed him
View attachment 183733

It’s a cool grading system but not the end all be all. Can’t imagine Zach Thomas’ Ras score who was 5’11 so getting killed like Bolton, his vertical was 4 inches lower than Bolton at 28 inches, his 40 was a 4.85 lmao only 20 reps on bench 4 less than Bolton, arm and hand length both smaller, broad jump was almost a foot less than Bolton yet he’s one of the greatest middle linebacker of all time. Ras would of been like a 0.5 lol
Great info. RAS is definitely not the end-all be-all of player analysis. It would be fun to know Zach's RAS just for how low it would be. I'd bet if we could show him he'd get a kick out of it. I'd be curious to know Offerdahl's RAS too. I doubt it was impressive either.

that just means we blow the pick if we reach for OL at 13. I love my OLs but....do you want another Billy Milner in the 1st round?
I hated the Milner pick when it was announced. Flat out fccking hated it. I would have thrown the living room sofa through the front window if my friend wasn't sitting on it. When he saw how mad I was there was a look of genuine fear in his eyes. It took me hours to calm down. The only 1st I hated almost as much was Sammie Smith.
When Shula took Milner based on the recommendation of Kim Helton, I was worried he'd lost it as a GM. Then the next round he took Andrew Greene to be the RG. That pick was somehow worse. At least we were able to trade Milner for Troy Drayton. Passed on an HOFer in Derrick Brooks. But even if it had to be OLs, he passed on Blake Brockermeyer, and with Greene, he passed on Brendan Stai. They'd have at least given us a couple of decent blue-collar starters for a few seasons.
All that said, Membou, Campbell, and Banks are not remotely close to as bad as Milner was. None of those three would be a reach at 13. Nowhere close to a reach.

Does this really surprise anyone though?

Even in his own household, Deion has him ranked like 4th out of 5 kids. Haha it’s crazy that he does that but it’s also great.
I had no idea he did that, but not surprised.

And no, I'm not surprised at all.

Maybe....but lets look at them. Campbell stands straight up an Iowa TE used to, lets bull rushers get into his chest. Membou, I like the most, he he looks more like guard to me. At guard at 13....ooof. Banks, I think a lot of teams will try him at OT....but he is guard as well.

Why not look at guys Savaiinaea or Zabel in the 2nd. Now if you a dark horse, look at the tape on OT Charles Grant. His agility and movement skills are impressive, he hits everything he pulls for...I love him at OG.
We all know what they say about what opinions are like, but that has to be the most inaccurate opinion on those three I have ever seen. Flabbergasted. Dumbfounded. Gobsmacked. Astonished.

This is my nightmare fuel.

Selecting a highly unimpactful position like tight end at 13 in one of the deepest tight end classes ever.

Waiting for scraps for our most needful position at oline in round 2

Drafting a 5th round talent in the third like Dart, who’s a serious project and is only getting looks because of how dreadful this qb class is. Dude would be like qb 10 in next years class.
I'm for trading back. I'd trade 13 for 17 or 18, a small trade back but one that would land us another top player. I think the difference between Warren and the rest of the TE will be evident in the coming years. I may be too high on Dart but your compass could be off too, it's possible. What Travis Kelsie or any other monster TE does on game day is very impactful. To me reaching and overdrafting are bull crap terms invented by Kiper and other draftnicks. There are no unimpactful positions. Look at how we've suffered trying to start Eich and Jones. They thought Guard wasn't very important, that and Tua's injuries sunk our season. I'm totally with you on our massive need for oline. Suddenly Guard is very impactful!! But we need to draft a QB somewhere, who do you like that we might be able to get? I'm assuming we sign a vet QB in FA. Didn't mean to fuel your nightmares!!

I'm not totally against trading back but giving Grier an extra 3rd rounder, is like giving a drug addict twenty bucks. The likleyhood he's gonna waste it is extremely high.

Grier hits on a 3rd rounder like once every 5 years. If a stud Oline or Dline is staring at us at #13, we should proabably just take him.

I don’t understand the discontent in drafting a guard at 13?

It’s the second most valueable position on our offense behind qb with the way McDaniel uses them heavily in swinging out on tosses, screens and most importantly we have a pocket passer who gets the ball out quickly making inside line play more important than tackles. Tua stands a chance of getting the ball out and completing it with outside pressure, however everything is disrupted with inside pressure like last year.

Our run game goes to ****, our deep passing game goes to ****, we have probably like the worst 3rd and and 4th and short running completion % than probably any other team in nfl history.

Is it the old myth that great guards can be found later in the draft? I’m not really seeing it. This is more true for power run teams that look for big run maulers. For a finesse team like us that would value athletic pass blockers, they aren’t too common as we are mostly looking at former tackles. The best two guards of the last decade in Quentin Nelson and future hall of famer Zach martin were both first round top 20 picks.

Is it they are a cheaper position? Because again that’s not true. We just saw the most successful team in the last decade franchise their guard for 23 million and we lost our own good guard for 20 million last season to another team.

I just don’t get, it makes no sense to me, multiple people have shrugged off guard at 13 and it just makes no sense to me. It’s by far our biggest need and there’s some talented high floor players who’s scouting report label them as potential all pro guards so can someone please explain the reluctance to pick one when it’s not only our biggest need but our most important need.
One thing the Saints always did when Brees was there was mitigate inside pass rush pressure by drafting guards/centers early and/or signing priority UFAs who could keep the pocket clean. Basically, they didn't cut corners on their 3 inside starters. I was always envious of those OLs. Tua has often been compared to a young Brees. Except for being left-handed and having a much nicer suntan. Oh yeah, and cooler ink work.
