Dolphins Cut aj edds/other moves

Wow man this is pathetic they gave up on 4th round pick over a 7th that was a scrub in college and will be a scrub in the pros?? Edds had way more potential than Spitler this sucks.

i go get some lunch and we release Edds? Wow. That's disappointing at many levels. I wonder if it portends another move.

They must like Spitler as a core special teamer.

I think it's more Marvin Mitchell over Edds... He was better in my opinion.

As critical as I have been regarding Spitler, I actually agree here. Mitchell came in and showed out in a great way. He showed the skills Edds was drafted to perform. However, Tony did say this "Austin has done a really good job. AJ has missed a chunk of time. Austin has had that time," Sparano said of Spitler.

Wonder if this move is a direct result of the effect of the lockout.. bet if Edds had more time to settle in with ota's and minicamp he'd still be here right now. Guess they just didn't have the patience to let this be another learning year for him so they went with the guy that has been here and knows what to do.. even if he sucks at it.

I'm about as homer as they come in regards to the Dolphins and the moves they make, and i defend this front office vehemently for the most part. But this move has ABSOLUTELY NO defense. AJ Edds looked solid this preseason, and the guy was an absolute BALL HAWK at Iowa. Maybe he wasn't a guy who practiced well, but Spitler and Mitchell over Edds is simply ridiculous. Like the signings, but this was completely lacking in the rationale department.

bad decision regardless of how you look at it. a gimpy edds looked miles better than a healthy spitler this preseason. and he hasn't come close to being 100% yet. can't stand behind this one at all.

Pretty sure keeping Spittler has EVERYTHING to do with his mother?

I'll take Ryan Cook any day over Joe Berger .. I was a big Berger fan from his 1st stint with the team .. and was happy the F/O brought him back for depth purposes several years ago ... But once Berger began to start, it sure looked like a bad signing ... I'm OK with Berger as a BACKUP, but after showing how powerless he is at the POA, he needed to go, even as a backup .... Cook is a much better player at the POA, and worth keeping around as for depth purposes, until a better option can be found!!! not sure why Edds was cut, but perhaps he'll be brought back onto the practice squad in an effort to gain more experience and get his knee stronger and healthier ... Rosario, was a TE that I was hoping the team would sign, he can make plays ... looks like the offense is stocked up with alot of pass catchers ... with the exception of Yeatman!!!

Edds what the hell? Cut Spitler before Edds...Edds was all around the ball in preseason.

Unless they're hoping he'll make it to the practice squad. Is he even eligible for the practice squad???

I Love this FO....that got there mojo working this offseason, Edds makes it on the PS not sure if a team is willing to put him on the 53 coming off that surgery without full training camp in his two yrs.....he is a raw rook with a limp.......nice pick up at TE and OL

"Austin has done a really good job. AJ has missed a chunk of time. Austin has had that time," Sparano said of Spitler. QUOTE]

If that is actually the reason Edds was cut--because he was injured and therefore could not be "evaluated"---that is one of the most moronic excuses for a decision I have ever heard. On that basis, any young player who is injured on this team might as well pack his bags and leave.

This franchise is becoming like John Gruden's in Tampa, just throwing out draft picks like they were nothing.
