Dolphins cuts thread

Not a huge paycut. Something like going from $6.5 he is schedule to make to maybe $5 million and Miami covers the $2.5 they guaranteed him in March.

On the open market he is not getting $5 million AAV. He’ll be Zach Brown who is signing deals that may get him to $3 million AAV.

You have to put it in perspective.
I understand your point - you want to get something for him

Quite possible I don't see McMillan's role because he has been hurt

I'm hoping that's what it is. Other than the current "undisclosed injury" he is now one more season past the torn ACL.

Sam Eguavoen, 6'003" tall, 227 LBs, 4.75 40 (pro day).

Raekwon McMillan 6'1.6" tall, 240 LBs, 4.61 40 (combine).

What are everybody's thoughts of keeping Drake, Ballage, Cox, Laird and Gaskin, and releasing Mark Walton (only because teams may shy away from him?) and bringing Walton back after the dust settles? Is that a strategy at all?
If I were to speculate, I'd say teams would pick up Walton because he runs with a tiny bit of power, but nobody would want Gaskin as scat backs without power are a dime a dozen. Neither guy is going to win us any extra games, IMHO.

I mean running ability aside . . . From a receiving and pass protection standpoint, Walton is head and shoulders above the rest as a third down option. He showed very well all camp and in the preseason in those areas.

The only issue is the potential suspension.

I like the move to faster better coverage linebackers, something Burke just didn't understand
Everyone does in theory and when they watch them in coverage. But just be aware that when we can't stop the run … that's the primary reason. Running teams will steamroll us. Defenses have a huge advantage early in the season, so we may not see it as prevalently against the Ravens … but soon enough our deficiencies stopping the run will come front and center if we move to only using glorified safeties as linebackers. There's still a need for a run stuffing LB, despite the NFL being predominantly a passing league now.

Equavoen looks faster -

Walton looks like 3rd RB, only the threat of suspension would hold him back, I liked the way he hit that hole for the 1st in the 4th game

So the Patriots trade their 2018 2nd pick, Duke Dawson, for a 2020 6th round pick and not bleep from the media or anyone. Imagine if Miami traded Gesicki for a 6th round pick... the name calling and uproar would happen instantly. Patriots make moves like this all the time and not only are they not raked over the coals, they're actually praised as draft masters.
We'd be called "dysfunctional" and they'd say its bad drafting and personnel decisions like this that keep this team from ever contending. Yup … media's logic is often like that of a kindergartener.

I honestly wouldn't lose sleep over losing Walton, Gaskin or Laird. Each are ok depth players but I haven't seen anything that I don't think I could replace with some of the other backs on the market from other teams. I still think Walton has as more long term potential than Gaskin and Laird.

Yeah, but you tend to get the benefit of the doubt when you’ve won six SB’s.... you don’t get the same benefit of the doubt when you haven’t won a playoff game in two decades.

6 Super Bowls will give them the benefit of the doubt.

Miami on the other hand has had one winning season so....

It would be nice if we could update the 1st post in this thread to keep a running track of the cuts. It seems Danny is actively updating anyway, so why not let him edit the first post, assuming the new site can do that yet. :)
