Mctyer and Armstrong were guys that fit the Corners Vance Joseph wanted that Gase kept the idea going. In a defense that is all about playing smart both struggled when it came to picking up the coverage. I know Armstrong showed well on ST but with Aikens here and Lammons showing well there was no need to keep Armstrong... plus if we keep with the Oats theme you'll see a lot of starters on ST
but we only have 9 DB's as of now and Aikens is one of them so I'm pretty sure we'll bring at least one more DB

Allen injury settlement . . . I mean he never looked healthy if we are being honest.
Very true, and it's not surprising. But, I am bummed. Our TE corps is very young, with only O'Leary having any real experience. We definitely could have benefitted from a hard working veteran voice to keep that group focused and hard grinding. Coaches can say the words, but it is received differently from players than when a veteran tells them. That TE room is high on potential, but low on experienced guidance.

Brett, what are the chance we find a taker for kiko at this time?

The blind allegiance to Needham has me perplexed. Thought Armstrong played better and also contributed on ST.
I think part of it is that Needham had some good tape from last year's camp and undoubtedly showed something in practices where the public wasn't privy. For him it could be more of a matter of learning the defense rather than ability. So, given our tanking/rebuilding year, we're more open to taking a kid with ability that needs time to learn the system. Just my guess.

Carradine's age was probably the biggest factor, considering that he made some plays but didn't really stand out over the younger guys like Ledbetter and Hendrix. Wouldn't be surprised if we sign a DE from another team.

Armstrong is the big surprise for me. Thought he was excellent on ST and played well covering the slot. I was wrong on him. Thought he would eventually challenge to overtake McCain's role. Lammons was the big ST standout though, and can also cover the slot.... probably made him (and McTyer for that matter) expandable. Obviously they like Wiltz a lot too.

Fingers crossed on Laird for me. Really hope he sticks.
