Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan: 'I've got a lot of work to do'

You think Vernon is a sack machine?.....lol

Ozzy rules!!

he just finished his 2nd season with 11.5 sacks (after 3.5 as a rookie). the poster's question was there a recent high pick who did little his first year that went on to have double digit sacks. i wasn't focusing on the "machine" portion of his question, nor was i aware he only wanted examples of top 10 picks.

I'm not worried about Jordan at all. I think as he plays more we'll see why he was so highly valued.

Maybe, maybe not we'll have to wait and see. The reason why I'm NOT pissed about the move to go up and grab him was that for once Ireland wasn't trying to trade down to pick multiple "solid" players, and instead dared to take a shot at getting an elite talent.

One of my major beefs with his drafts has been passing up players like Earl Thomas to go after multiple picks, until last year that was more often than not his strategy. So no matter what, I'm not gonna crucify him for the Jordan pick.

Well, he did move up to draft Thomas a well....lol I'm ok moving up for a player that can help you get better but when you go up to number 3 you should be getting a starter right away that's going to help you from the start. That is the NFL these days. You can draft a project in the lower rounds but not at number 3.

Ok, but I meant taking a shot at potentially ELITE players, I don't think anybody considered DT to be in that category lol

When I think about the times we were just good enough to be out of reach of elite players in the draft, and think about the one time we did trade into the top 5 was for a high who was an afterthought as a rookie, it makes me infuriated.

It still amazes me how quickly fans are willing to write off rookies after one season. Good grief, people! Give him a little time to develop! Sounds like he has the right attitude, so let's see if a dedicated offseason brings out better results in year 2, a la Olivier Vernon.
