Dolphins' draft Rumor: Miami locked in on RT at 19

Not sure why people think the only solution for teams to get better is to draft so called playmakers. Im sure Miami thought they found two playmakers in Ted ginn and Lorenzo booker and see what tht got us.
That 3rd overall playmaker really made an impact for us last year.

The catch there is you have to actually draft play makers, not busts. As to Jordan, he's coming out of his rookie year and we'll see what happens, I still think that he's best suited for OLB. As to this draft, I'm pretty sure that it will be OT and WR in the first 2 picks, the question is in what order.

I think so. I don't think Miami will prioritize the position, but I think they should consider it. Assuming they don't want to reach at RT (for the sake of the point, let's assume Martin has already been drafted), and they'd rather not go WR in RD 1, there probably won't be a DE or DT worth drafting at 19, and Mosley and Shazier are the only LB's who might be there and (arguably) worth the pick. There are various scenarios where either or both won't be there and/or where Miami wouldn't have a top-20 grade on one or both. So it could come down to a scenario of CB vs S. I like Verrett, Fuller, and Roby, but I don't think they'd have the cumulative impact on the D that a Ward or Bucannon would.

On a side note, Seattle got a steal in Earl Thomas. 4 years at 10 per for the guy who should have been DPOY - and the one guy that D absolutely needs to thrive.

just a hunch but something tells me 75 percent of that earl thomas extension or damn close to it is guaranteed...otherwise only 4 years doesnt add up to me...

as for the corner/safety question if it was b/t the 2 positions...agreed...fullers high in his pedal but he fires forward very well out of it and transitions well...fluid like the feet...the one thing i will say about va tech prospects is be careful they are very well coached and most come into the league maxed out guys...they get everything out of their kids talent at the college level even...for the most part

verretts size projects more in the slot under 5 ft 10 i wouldn't hate it in the top 20 as i think it's the ideal fit for us and i love the player but i can't validate it either at that size...trade down sure...

robys explosive but top 20's too rich for me too...as is the okla state kid who i think gets bumped up for return abilities...issue there is the kid at times shows no interest in tackling...

i see why the buzz with philip gaines is round 2 now...i didnt watch the db combine work til just recently and he flat shredded it...hips pedal footwork firing forward when he put his foot in the ground...teams are loving that upside...very good size to boot...it will go before miami would pull the trigger on a corner if the picks stay put

Very little real info is leaked this time of year. Lots of smokescreens.

Moses has no attitude problem ... I'm confident every NFL front office knows that.

Zack Martin is definitely on Miami's board for #19 overall, but probably after Matthews, Robinson and our ideal fit Lewan. Also likely ZM is ahead of any other OL with the possible exception of Kouandijo if they grade him as medically solid.

We will definitely draft a DB and likely also a DL and WR.

LOL, we see things so different. Of the three positions you named I consider them 3 of the most unlikely that we draft. We need OL, LBs, and a RB much higher than either of the areas you mentioned, IMO. I see our DL as the strongest unit on the team, with WR being 2nd or 3rd. We have two high draft picks from last year at CB, and although I guess I can see us taking one I would see it as being a smaller need than OG, OT, 2nd OG, ILB, OLB, TE and Safety. But I guess that is what makes the draft so exciting. There are a million ways to look at it.

Just because Mueller and Ireland thought they found playmakers doesn't make it so

Playmakers like anything else can be found throughout the draft. 1st rounder definitely not a guarantee.
We need line and fi Martin is here take him unless someone unbelievable falls.
If Matthews somehow falls past 5 I would ask what it would take to move up.

i'd think corner would be higher on the draft target list if not for the guaranteed $6 mil we paid finnegan...he has to be in the top 3 corner play...and with taylor who i expect to play a lot this year a fallback at worst slot option in jimmy wilson and them likely wanting to see what will davis has after a year in the program i just don't see it being a major priority

I heard Jimmy Wilson was moving to Safety, which is why I dont have Safety high on the list of needs due to to forgotten man in Michael Thomas and Wilson moving.

You can never have enough CB's and they take a couple of years to develope to greatness and more than half never make it there on a consistent basis. The Colvin kid is another one I now have my eye on.

and on your former statement about what we do on defense I cannot say I agree. I believe a defense changes it ways according to matchups and ability.

I would take a good corner in this draft even if I were the Seahawks. They take some time to grow.
