Dolphins 'Falling in Love' with WR Prospect Dorial Green-Beckham to Replace Mike Wall

There simply aren't that many people on this planet with the combination of height/speed and ball skills that he possesses. Maybe he'll take sometime to develop as a route runner but inside the 20s he can provide value early.

People are seriously understating his upside...special traits...unfortunately may never reach them with his red flags.

If DGB was serious and willing to work, Landry would be a great influence on him imo, but agreed with others likely smokescreen.

I almost feel bad for DGB and the fanbase of whatever team gets him because they going to feel like they got Randy Moss if he can stay clean off the field when that is just not at all what he is. DGB is much bigger than Moss -- Plaxico Burress sized -- but he has the frame of AJ Green. Unfortunately, he doesn't move like Green (and not at all like Moss). He moves more like Burress. But without the bulk and physicality. He's not even Vincent Jackson, imo.

Actually, I think his best athletic comp is a much bigger AJ Green. He's faster than Green, and his feet are on the same level (in terms of talent - not refinement). His 6.89 3-Cone is ridiculous for a guy his size - and slightly better than Green's. If DGB really does have his nose to the ground, as reports seem to indicate, no team is going to be disappointed with the player. Neither DGB or Green jumps particularly well, but they're so long, and they're so natural that it doesn't matter. In terms of tools and fit, DGB is absolutely the best WR Miami could draft. If they pull the trigger at 14, I couldn't argue the pick. He's on my very short list.

I'm just speaking to the player and the athletic tools he possesses. I'd still like us to add a veteran WR to the room...but Landry will definitely have a great influence on everyone in the room. I would've liked Nate Washington but he got scooped...Reggie Wayne is next on my list as a placeholder.

Ironically, I put his ceiling at Vincent Jackson . . . . and I thought that was overly generous . . . . and like Vincent, would take 3 years or so to develop properly.

When was the last time we developed a top tier WR? Chris Chambers? Brian Hartline carved out a decent career . . . but we just don't do well with these type of wide receivers and this is Without factoring in the baggage . . . this is just on the field.

Too raw to think about at 14 . . . . many of the people vouching for him now will want him cut after the preseason when they realize how far away he is from having an impact on the Dolphins.

The hype on DBG going into the combine was crazy. His numbers threw water on that but for some reason people keep on with the Moss comparisons. It just isn't there. Not on the tape. Not in the workout. Moss had legit sub 4.3 speed. Even Jackson is a generous comparison as I said. Their size and 40s are comparable but Jackson tested better in every "quickness" category -- which shows up when you watch them -- and is a bulkier, stronger player.

Chris Chambers was never a top tier WR. Probably the last top tier WR we actually developed was Mark Clayton. In other words, a long time ago.

Agreed. People overstate route running. It's a great trait to have coming out, but assuming DGB can pick up a playbook his 3-cone indicates he has the athletic profile to develop as a route runner as long as he is committed.

I agree love his athletic side.

I agree the talk was calvin johnson going into the combine...turned out rediculous...but that 3 cone at that size is wowzers

It's not fair to compare DGB to Green. Green is on a completely other level with his precision and foot quickness from DBG. There is no other big receiver on Green's level -- not in college and not in the NFL either. He's a bigger Marvin Harrison, that's why he's so special. DGB is not that at all. He's much more linear.

That's an impressive 3 cone but Roberto Wallace ran a 6.8 3 cone at 6'4 and 224 pounds and what was Sherman's nickname for him? Ankle weights or something like that?

Every time I want to use 14 on him, I'm reminded of what Justin Blackmon is doing these days and the 40 lbs he put on. And don't give me that nonsense that DGB is a changed man, none of us have a damn clue.

One of my most important traits for the 14th pick, is they have to prove they love football. I can't say DGB has proven that.

I may be in the minority, but I really like DGB. His length and catch radius are attributes we really need.

I also like the fact that management is in charge and we aren't just letting Philbin have the easy way out by eliminating all challenging personalities. This is almost like when you make a player do something so they improve. We need Philbin to do his job and work with challenging players. You can't win by getting rid of every Vontae Davis that needs to use the bathroom in the middle of practice.

We need impact players up and down the roster. Drafting "pluggers" reeks of mediocrity.

I will be happy with DGB or Gurley in round one. Let's stack playmakers. That's how you win, not by drafting Odrick and Misi types as your best draft picks.

Did wallace really run 6.8? God he couldnt separate from anyone

Roberto Wallace pro day workout:

Height: 6037
Weight: 223
40 Yrd Dash: 4.48
20 Yrd Dash: 2.56
10 Yrd Dash: 1.47
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 19
Vertical Jump: 36 1/2
Broad Jump: 10'03"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.12
3-Cone Drill: 6.80

About as impressive as you'll ever see from a big WR.

DGB is obviously a much better prospect than Wallace ever was, I'm just saying you have to look at these workout numbers with the proper perspective.

He couldn't separate because he had no idea how to run routes or use his hips. The 3 cone is a bit overrated for WRs. Landry is able to get so much separation because his use of hips is ridiculous.

Rashad Greene is going to really good in the NFL. His ability to sink his hips effortlessly is top in this class.

I'm not a fan of Kevin White.
