It is what it is
Is this the same person who wrote that whole dissertation about how Jeff Ireland did an unbelievable job as GM and should be retained?
Dion might end up being a mid season trade for a contender is someone goes down.....
including the owner...If our FO/Coaching staff is influenced by fan petitions, CLEAN HOUSE!!!
I dont get all the negativity to this...you do not spend a #3 overall pick on a part time player...When exactly is Dion supposed to get in at DE, he is not going to get in over Wake or Vernon, so should we just keep him on the bench every play that they are on the field? How can he get better at anything only coming in on 3rd down (if he's lucky)? Put him out at OLB and let him impact the game...sitting on the bench he is worthless...
Answer this question, what good is he doing for us sitting on the bench, unless we are planning on trading wake or vernon....is he just there to give them a breath?

When they drafted him they didn't know how Vernon would be at DE. Lets not pretend Vernon was a 10 year vet, he was a 3rd round pick from a year prior asked to bulk up to be a DE, just like Jordan. So when we drafted him, as far as the staff was concerned, we didn't have anything proven at DE. If one works out and one doesn't, you are still in good shape. If both work out you've got yourself a good problem to have, 2 players legitimately competing and pushing each other, and depth. If neither works out you're ****ed.
As far as Vernon goes he had a good year statistically in terms of stats but according to PFF and others he's still just an average DE. I think it would be more than a little prudent to consider the position completely fixed at this point based off of one year of mediocre play. Plus Dion Jordan would be asked to take Misi's role who graded out pretty well at that position, I don't think you're going to get this assumed bump up in defensive production, thats even if Jordan proves to be as good as Misi was in that role.
People just assume Jordan [STRIKE]can be[/STRIKE] already is just as good as Von Miller who I'm sure the Broncos would love to rush the passer and drop into coverage on every down if it were possible. Jordan needs polish, and a lot of it, no matter where he lines up, and right now we're polishing him to be a DE.
And I really don't care what they do with him at this point to be honest, just playing devils advocate.
Well he should get in over Shelby which he didn't. If he showed something he would play more. Lets quit acting like we are holding him back.
I agree! This could likely just be a bad pick by a bad GM. I had high hopes for Jordan coming into this year and was very disappointed he did nothing vs Atlanta's backups the other night.
