Just making it make sense
First thread titled “bet”
No wagers discussed - just a weird interview with one’s self
I’m taking the over on the 48
as for your point on the title, fair i guess. i used the term in this case because FA is the team making a lot of bets. at any rate i thought it was a pretty benign, non judgemental post that consolidates a lot of things that have been discussed independently into one area. but sadly, the thread probably is already ruined from some of the initial replies as anyone that starts reading them will be taken offtrack or just not want to deal with the nonsense that has nothing to do with discussing football.
at any rate, if it matters, i just changed the title, because i guess the other title wasnt great.
as for taking the over, you are a cheater pants, because those guys are already up to 100. I should have set it at 1,000, but I wanted a number close to something that is an over/under in an actual football game. at any rate, you guys might need an age disclaimer on this website, something that says "you must be 21 or over to enter" like all the pornos and dispensary websites have :)
in answer to some of my own questions, it just dawned on me there might be something goofy going on. i would think it would have been the teams goal to enter fa with some available cap space, and as of now, I believe they are still a fair bit over the cap. so much so, that i am not sure if they can be cap compliant by the start of FA? i wonder if they expected they would be able to re-structure some guys, and the players refused to cooperate? there was a story i saw about ramsey not wanting to restructure. i think tyreek hill is another one that they could restructure? at any rate, one would think they would have this stuff done by now, because it is impossible to plan for FA without knowing how much dry powder you have available. do i have this right? has this happened to other teams before where they go into FA in a non cap-compliant state and are therefore shutout of the action?
if this is the position they are in, i wonder if they do sign tua long term all of the sudden? that is one way to clear some space. i think he is $23mm for next year, so maybe with a new deal they can lower that number by $10mm? maybe they just say we are going to do it at some point, so might as well do it now, because they need the space? the offset to that is they lose negotiating leverage. the other problem is this alone still doesn't get them under the cap, they have to find more?
as far as my expectations, i was thinking that i wont be disappointed and potentially mildly surprised to the upside, since hopefully we know most of the bad news at this point re wilkins and some of the other guys like hunt. ergo my expectations have been appropriately lowered. was hoping we would be able to make some decent complimentary signings akin to jonnu smith for positions like guard/center or linebacker, plus resign AVG. but if somehow we go into FA with no money, and cant sign anyone to fill the holes that have been opened, if i have that right, then i will be pretty bummed and also pissed at grier.
hopefully i am wrong about where things stand with the cap, or if I am right, they resolve some things over the weekend with restructures (incl potential bonus re-allocations) so they have some dry powder available for the start of FA, and the money is used for some of the stuff i talked about
