Dolphins free agent interests at DT / Soliai down to 3 teams Dolphins not one of them

If we are letting Soliai and Starks walk to make a run at Byrd, then im all for it.

It would leave us more flexibility to spend our precious cash

The reason the Run D wasn't good last year is because our LB's were pretty lame and didn't show very good instincts. Solia and Starks are both very good at what they do. I worry that if we get lesser talent at DT and keep the same LB's we are going to be a very poor D up the middle.

Isn't it funny the same people that want to overpay for Albert and Byrd are the same ones that will say let Soliai go because he is asking for too much  Dolfans gotta love'em

I personally would want to keep him, if not, then make a strong push for Joseph or Mitchell.

I am worried about losing him too, its just that the market is there to replace a big DT this year, where as you rarely get a chance to snag a safety like Byrd. Thats why people are okay with over paying him, while letting Soliai walk.

Anyone else think maybe we want to get quicker at the DT spots in order to get more QB hurries and sacks? Pressure coming from the middle can be very big. Soliai and Starks are more of run stuffers, and we weren't too great against the run last year. Perhaps we are going in a different direction.

Thoughts?

Yea a ****ty defense.......defend the pass well but can't stop the run or cover TE and backs....I hope Hickey has a plan

It's called not resigning your own but over pay for someone else.....they always look better when you don't watch them every game.....I am not a big fan of being the team who spends the most in FA, It doesn't work, the best way is through the draft and 2nd tier FA and target 1 or 2 mid range FA....the teams in the hunt for super bowls are those who draft well not those like little Danny Snyder......

Ain't that the truth.... From the looks of it we will be overpaying for another teams player and let our draft picks go, like usual. It's the Dolphins way. That and not going to the playoffs.

We can't keep everyone and then get everyone from other teams too. Our front 7 were not that great last year. I like Soliai but it might be time to move on.

Ozzy rules!!

I would love us to keep Starks. Big Paul, thanks for the service but not so much.

Paul is a GREAT nose tackle, but not nearly as valuable in a 4-3. If it was up to me, I'd resign him and run a 3-4, with odrick and Vernon playing DE with Jordan and Wake at OLB. This way we could get Wheeler off the field. However, if we're stubburnly sticking to a 4-3 (which I don't think we should), Paul will be worth more to a 3-4 team than us.

I'd shut my mouth if they got Linval Joseph.. Go younger, hungrier and cheaper.
