Dolphins frontrunners for Steelers WR Mike Wallace

Well if that's the case, I mean who wouldn't seriously consider that? So he wants big money? At least we wouldn't have to throw away a high pick too, I mean he is an absolutely dynamic playmaker

Consider yes, but Philbin has seen great receivers over the last few years (or at least Jennings and the cumulation equalling greatness) so he will probably have a lot of say on what he sees on the Dolphin roster. It takes some receivers time. Wallace didn't burst onto the scene remember. He started only 4 games his rookie year. Miami has a lot of receivers in camp which may yield a nugget or two. It will interesting to see if they do get involved in trade talk and I suspect the Steelers will trade him given the money they just gave to Brown. I doubt Pitt pays two receivers big dough.

i would poop myself in excitment, but my money is on dallas

brown and wallace bring different things to the table though primarily...brown beats you with quickness and route running wallace beats you with the threat of taking you deep and can run a variety of routes off of it

what i'm saying is gates has the same ability to drive defenders and dbs especially back and to in time run routes off of it such as deep comebacks and outs etc...he's way more willing to take contact than ted ginn ever was...there's more than just straight line speed there we need to continue to develop it...the dropping the ball thing doesn't add up for me all that much...i guess he could lack strength in his hands but i have yet to see evidence of it on tape college or pro
route running and quickness... hmmm. we've got a couple of those, at least IMO.

Something that the dolphins are lacking right now

I agree Gates can take the lid off of a D and drive off DBs...and again Im with you on not worrying about his hands. Where we differ is that I think Wallace is a better route runner than given credit for. I also think Gates is explosive...long speed yes but he is quicker than a cat as well. His route running is raw...but if given the opportunity I think he could be a threat similar to Brown...with the ability to beat you with quicks and also the long speed to go deep.

There is talk that he could be had for as little as a 4th round pick because of is contract demands. Still though, I can't see the Steelers trading him.

Glad to see you posting again Robi.

If this is true you better hope your favorite capologist has a majic wand :-) I am all for it but I don't see us clearing up Megatron money!

We would have to backload his contract...something where he plays for peanuts this year and then starts getting a major raise next season and on.

if you thought Chad Johnson would bring an audience to #HardKnocks, imagine what film of the #Dolphins trading for Mike Wallace would do for the series. RATINGS!!!

when wallace first came in the league only thing he could run was the straight vertical...he's developed his ability to gear down with little wasted movement and make cuts out of it against bailing dbs...but he has the tools...edmund gates has those same tools...just not as refined

for instance jeff fuller no way at this level is that guy ever gonna drive dbs back and force them to respect his deep speed and work off of it...dbs are gonna sit on routes with him all over the field...yeah you can run some slants and some stop go stuff in the red zone like they did with him at a & m but dbs at this level are gonna figure out real fast that they don't have to respect him and its gonna be an uphill climb as a result...i don't care if he's torching camp bodies so far

The problem is even if we had 10 mil and we don't he already turned that kind of money down. With the new cba 10 mil this year can only be 12 mil next year and 14.4 the next.

I completely agree with you. I like Gates...and I don't want to give up on him. Thats why Im saying regardless of if we would somehow get Wallace, I still wouldn't give up on Gates. I would find a way to get them both on the field. Let Gates learn and develop...but I think we could find a way to use them both. Speed kills.

Also, agree on Fuller. He can't get DBs out of their pedal consistently...not a fan.

if you really want to free up money to make it happen you look at your cap and see guys on the last year of their deals and cut them...we could do it...tony mcdaniel would be a candidate...if they like the dt from texas for instance to make the roster

another candidate just looking at the cap like i do kinda like when i said a couple years ago miami would have to either restructure or cut y bell and v carey...wait for it....anthony fasano...although i no longer believe that could happen it would free up $3.6 mil in cap

we can have 10 million tho i think we would probably have to cut mcdaniels and maybe trade like hartline or gates for him
