hmmm im not so sure I like that game. Im going back to using my handicapper for football. Didnt need him for basketball but week 1 is always the hardest for betting.

Yeah I thought hard about it so I only put 6 bucks down. I'm hoping Moss plays great.

Its not Oaklands offense that worries me...its that awful (on paper anyway) defense! Im not sure they can stop NE or anyone else for that matter. I think the over may be a better bet but i havent really thought about football yet.

Ah yes my good friend...there are plenty of good betting websites. I like www.sportsinteraction.com

SportInteraction is blacklisted by the Off Shore Gaming Association (OSGAdotCOM). I've never used them, but it's looks like some people are having problems with them.

Thanks for the website. I hadn't heard of OSGA before.

For those using SportsInteraction, here's the warning it has:

Sports Interaction SIA has become unresponsive to claims that are presented to us. So far this NFL season more than a few complaints have gone and remain unresolved!

Really? I've had no problems. They've paid me probably about $1000 over the past 3 years, and I've probably given them about $100. They've always been legit for me. I love them.

Good move Boik, prioritizing basketball. If you know what you're doing and get on a roll, hoops is easily the best game to roll up a nice profit, IMO, not football. Very true to form. I just got back from a week cruise in Alaska financed via basketball winnings. It's an everyday sport and the 11/10 aspect works for me. In the playoffs sensible trends hold up year after year. Like the Heat in Game 3. If the team with home advantage splits the first two games, they inevitably make a big stand in Game 3 to regain the home advantage. Last year that trend went something like 12-1 versus the spread in the basketball and hockey playoffs combined.

Bettors like to rave about the win-only aspect of baseball wagering but other than betting streaks to continue I can't figure out how to beat that sport. The sportsbooks love football, especially NFL. People invariably overreact to the previous week's results and bet toward a replay of that. But the NFL is supremely balanced and usually a bounce league, where a big effort leads to a lesser performance the following week and vice versa, with some notable exceptions that I'm too tired to detail now. After 7 days on a ship I literally feel like the world is rocking even through I'm safely on terra firma.

speaking of the "money I won't see again category" here's 5 bucks I won't see again:
AFC East - Miami
NCAA Title - Miami
Heisman - Reggie Bush
2005 ROY - Cedric Benson
2005 NL Pennant - Phillies

payout - $1.2 million

I forgot to mention the 3 online/offshore sportsbooks that bettors trust the most. I don't know a single wiseguy Las Vegas sports bettor who doesn't deal with one of these outfits, and usually all of them:

www.pinnaclesports.com

www.betcris.com

www.thegreek.com

Be extremely careful with the smaller and less established sites. I got burned for a few dimes (thousand) several years ago when a website that was excellent for wagering on golf matchups abruptly shut down.

Thanks Awsi. And yeah Ive been on a MAJOR roll this year in hoops. I was up about a G @ the end of football season and Im up 5500 now. Not bad considering I started the account last September around week 2 with 100 and most of my bets are of the parlay variety for $20 or less. The funny thing is with hoops I never ever look at stats other than how a team has played over their last 10 and vs that opponent cause its simply too confusing for me to bother with and I do fine without it. I feel like its too overanalyzed

Football though I need my handicapper. I cant deal with intense strain of looking up all the BS and the injury reports and everything else. The only time i ever really did great with a football bet was last year i laid 250 on a 10 pt 3 team tease w/TB, NE, and Indy and I won like 200 off it. I felt like it was such a gimme cause ATL gets owned by TB cause Vick cant handle that D.

Baseball i usually just play the over under based on pitching matchups cause i dont like cheering for teams i might not like, like ATl, Phillies, marlins or nats (go mets :) ). Most sports i seperate my emotion from my bets but for some reason i cant do it in baseball.

that is unless you dont mind losing the money

the money i spent today i expect to lose, but i did it just to route for the phins....

let me tell you about a bet i didnt win...

i own about 10,000 dollars in stock that my parents have been saving for me for years. a while ago I was reading about how price line had dropped its stock price from 150+ dollars a share down to less than 2 a share. I tried to get my dad to put my money into priceline at 2 a share....he didnt, and I didnt really hassle him about it.

the stock is now worth 24 dollars a share... i would have made 110,000 dollars........

augh

Unfortunately, i do bet with my heart, and it pisses me off sometimes. However I don't think the Phillies will win the pennant, but they had 26-1 odds, and I think they are starting to play much better, and they definitely have playoff potential, and anything can happen so....I keep my hopes up for my 1.2 mil
