Dolphins' GM: 'I always want more picks'

Quality over quantity I say, but obviously it couldn't hurt to have more options! Just hope our new GM is better at drafting for quality no matter how many picks he has at his disposal.

It will be a buyers market to move up, but if you can't make it into the top ten....it just isn't worth it...the Dolphins also lacks the extra picks one team usually has in these trade up scenarios....

I'm just glad we're finally only a few days away from the draft, and we've got a new GM calling the shots... We've got a great shot at making a huge difference in the future of this team next week, and just hope Hickey does us well. Either way it will be interesting to see which direction he takes us in, and if we do trade down what kind of value he gets. I want to see a GM that is in total control and gets the most value out of the trades and transactions.

My opinion on trading down will really all depend on who's still on the board, and how they'd fit what we're trying to do. To pass on a player that is going to make a difference on your team to acquire more picks seems like a recipe to repeat the past decade of Miami Dolphins history IMO. I'm all for trading down if the value is there, and you feel you can still pick the player you want with a later pick. With that being said, I'm willing to give Hickey the benefit of the doubt that he knows what's he's doing... At least for this first year. LOL

Kind of unrelated note on Hickey, but:

I'm glad he has a sense of humor....

Anyway, I had heard that Hickey had a really contentious and ugly relationship with certain media elements when he was in Tampa, and I'm really glad that it appears that won't be the case here.

We really didn't need another Jefflon.

Except for the fact that we aren't a team that is one player away from the playoffs. The more picks we have the better off we are.

It's not the number of picks. It's the players that are picked. We've pissed away more picks on mediocre talent as much as any team in football. If a top level guy falls and we pass and trade down, I'm going to blow a gasket. How many of us want a Earl Thomas do-over? Now if the draft doesn't fall well and none of our top level targets are there, then by all means...but we can't afford passing on Earl Thomas type talent a crap load more than picking up more Koa Misi talent.

Must have a dance partner and must make these picks count. Don't do an Ireland and give up picks to move up and get Daniel Thomas.

I still dont know how the hell he managed to **** that up.
Thats an impressive display of stupidity.

I'm still not sure it's a f up moving forward. Last year, yea but with all of their injuries we should see more this year. I'd love for hickey to trade back if there isn't a great player sitting there. A fat boy to two in the mid rounds that can keep Tanne upright sounds great.
