Dolphins have several pieces they should trade says Jason Cole

i think wake would struggle as a 4-3 end vs the run...although i guess if we went cover 2 like the colts and went with smaller speed edge rushers it may work...but you better have a offense that can put up points cause with that kind of colts d you need to play with the lead and then let your pass rushers pin their ears and tee off on the qb...wakes hips though definitely fit a 4-3 end more

and dlockz good luck getting wake to sign a 3 year contract unless you load that sucker with a ton of guaranteed money like the raiders like to do with their inflated short term contracts the last few years

Yeah, you'd have to keep Wake on the weakside on every play. Sort of how the Dolphins used to have Kenny Mixon as a run stopper on the strong side on running downs and Taylor chasing from the backside. Then on passing plays Trace Armstrong would come in for Mixon and rush over the RT.

That kind of scheme could work with Wake in Taylor's place, imo.
 
Players who realistically have some kind of trade value:
Cameron Wake-3rd rounder maybe 2nd(primarily age,but also only 1 year of great productivity)
Brandon Marshall-3rd rounder at best
Sean Smith-4th at best
Reggie Bush-5th at best(btw Bush doesn't suck,Daboll & Sparano have absolutely no clue how to use him...which baffles me,why make the move in the first place?)
Karlos Dansby-4th at best
Randy Starks-5th at best

Thats why i was saying we should trade him because its not very likely he will be a top level guy for more than another 4 years . If u sign him past three years then u likely cut him before the start of the fourth year of the contract which will be when he is basically 35
 
An extremely thin team shouldn't be making trades when their players' value is at an absolute lowest. We're talking 3rd round and later picks. Say you trade Dansby for a 3rd rounder (which may even be a reach). For one thing that means you're now starting Austin Spitler. Then you take into account that last year Dansby's value far exceeded that of a 3rd round pick and this year's slump could very well just be the result of a broken team. Also, I wouldn't trade Wake under any circumstance.
 
The only position the Dolphins should consider trading players from is the defensive line. I would be willing to trade every one of them except Jared Odrick.
 
The one player it would make obvious sense to trade now while he still has any value at all is Marshall. More chance of finding a desperate team now than in the offseason (see the recent Mason trade). Unfortunately it's not happening while Ireland is here. If Ireland was included in the offseason cleanout then top of the new GM's agenda will be cutting ties with Marshall because everybody else can find better ways to spend $9m a year.

you know what you'd be doing if you traded those guys for those kind of low ball returns..well some of them are low ball at least...you'd be swimmin with josh mcdaniels in no time
 
this is the same guy who celebrated (high fived) when the dolphins fell apart during a game several years ago when he was a beat writer here.

This was a bad article.
 
I'd seriously be looking for a taker for Marshall right about now.
 
I think the Raiders would give up a 1st for Marshall.... Ooops wait.....Al Davis is no longer with us........so maybe not!!
 
I agree with trading for Bush, but not JT or Dansby.

I think Dansby will get better when he gets healthy and JT is only playing because he wants to be a Fin, otherwise he would reitre

We save $30 Million on 3 players that will want more money and we will gain draft picks so we have the picks to trade to be able to draft whatever player we want(A Luck).
 
Jason Taylor was offered work by 1 team in each of the past 2 offseasons. And that was with 0 draft pick compensation. Who in the ****ing world is going to trade a 5th round pick for him when he is older than ever when they could have signed him for free when he was younger, but showed no interest??? article makes no sense
