I think those are reasonable asking prices except for the Carey one. Nobody is going to give up a 5th for Carey. Not sure what you could get for Burnett either. You have to take what the player is making into consideration. I'm positive you could get someone to take Smith for a 4th. Solid, young CB not making a lot of money. You could probably get your 2nd rounder back. He's not nearly as bad as people around here think he is. If I were GM I would put a value on the following players, taking into consideration performance, potential, age, injury and contract. Wake (1st) Marshall (2nd) Smith (2nd) Starks (4th) Merling (7th)...if I couldnt get that for anyone of those players I would keep them. Wake is cheap and an elite rusher, you keep him if you cant get a late 1st for him. Gave up too much for Marshall to trade him for less than a 2nd, plus he's still valuable. You arent going to get a better CB than Smith in the draft with a 3rd/4th rounder and you took the guy in the 2nd round 3 yrs ago and he hasnt been disappointing for a 2nd round CB so you dont trade him for anything less.

I would be happy if we got a 3rd for Marshall right now, yeah it's not 2 2s (I think anyone else in the league makes that deal) but that's good compensation considering how Marshall's been playing lately.

We would be worst off trading him for a 2nd. Our offense would get even worse and we damn sure aren't going to get a better player in the 2nd round than Marshall. Just look at our 2nd round picks. Henne, White, Misi, Smith, Merling. You tell me which one of those guys is more valuable than Marshall. We'd be getting LESS talented by trading Marshall for a 2nd and you want to trade him for a 3rd? No ****ing thanks. Ill take Marshall over John Jerry anyday. To be honest Id keep Marshall unless we could get a first for the reasons I stated but if you insist on trading him you better get at least a 2nd to give yourself a shot at getting a player of anywhere near the same value. Our track record of drafting would suggest we'd be giving Marshall away for some back-up, marginal starter...and thats if we got a 2nd, nevermind a freaking 3rd.

Where is the evidence that he can't take the pounding or isn't built for that? Is he injured?

I think the real issue is that he tries to take inside runs and turn them into "Barry Sanders" runs. With the speed of today's league, backs need to be "one-cut-and-go" guys.

Either the hole is there, a cutback lane is there, or nothing is there, in which case you have to try to hit it up hard and at least fall forward so you don't lose yardage.

Very little else is ever open on running plays in today's game, but Bush tries to make those openings with talent he really doesn't have at this level.

This is why Bush isn't effective inside IMO. It has nothing to do with strength or durability.

This is exactly right. A RB's first priority is to get 4 yards...period. After you've gotten that 4 yards, then bounce it outside, make your second cut, etc. in order to turn it into a big play.

You're allowed ONE cut as a running back until you've gotten those 4 yards. Two cuts is typically out of the question. All you do is end up losing yards or dancing for no gain.

Also i hate to admit it but I think Crowder was the brains of the outfit. (believe it or not) Could not cover a tight end to save his life but I believe he got everyone in the right position. Dansby is a good player when healthy. As far as a leader like a Ray Lewis. Haven't seen that and Burnett is not holding up his end either. Simply getting lined up in the right position seems to be a big problem.
I don't disagree, but it's hard to imagine Crowder being the brains of ANY outfit.
