Dolphins' highly-paid WRs not living up to expectations

Nah, let's just go with the NFL official stats so you have little to complain about, and just go with your first pick. No time for the others.

Seattle- Tate caught 64 passes for 898 and 5 TD's. Hartline caught 76 for 1016, and 4 TD's.

Baldwin caught 54 for 778 and 5 TD's. Wallace caught 73 for 930 and 5 TD's.

Miller (TE) caught 56 for 387 and 5 TD's. Clay caught 64 for 759 and 6 TD's'

Kerse caught 22 for 346 and 4 TD's. Matthews caught 41 for 442 and 2 TD's.

The team also had over 100 LESS attempts than Miami did.

Showing stats doesn't equal a better core or not. Watch the games and stop going by stats on most of your stuff. Please.

That's funny. Hartline was one of 22 WR's in the NFL with over 1,000 yards, with fewer catches than most. His average of 13.4 was down this year but tied with Dez Bryant. And you want him as a 4th or 5th WR? Amazing what some post.
I understand what you are saying Sobe, statistically he has gained yards, but to me you put the ball in the hands of your playmakers, and unfortunately Hartline isn't one of them. He isn't of much use in the red zone, with ball in hand he more often than not falls to the ground before anyone touches him, he isn't someone a D is going to gameplan against, and so far this year his hands haven't been great. As a 3rd down option Gibson is probably better currently, I think someone between Gibson, Matthews and Landry would benefit us better as our number 2 and with the physicality between the three of them it causes the D more threats to deal with.

Hartline gains yards but mostly as a security blanket when it's least contested on the field. We need a #2 who's going to win battles and remain upright through tense coverage. Hartline is not really that guy, and to keep playing him like that is just resulting in more and more incompletions and minimal YAC.
Can't tell you how many times I see a ball go his way only to see it go nowhere soon after, or get broken up. He's just not a physical guy; a bigger, slightly faster version of Davone Bess with not as good hands (but a healthy brain, thankfully).

they're all learning a new O.. a lot of thinking going on... more than pitch n catch at this level.. give it time

I suspect if you looked at a similar 3 game sample with identical passer ratings all players would have similar stats. So it goes back to are they bringing Tannehill down causing him to look inconsistent, or are they the consistent ones but Tannehill's inconsistency is bringing their numbers down?

Or both?

That's the stone cold truth right there.

People using stats to puff Hartline also could puff Bess the same same (no pun intended). A person has to be able to look beyond the stats to how they were amassed. It may help some people to think in basketball terms: In basketball, you have guys who can "create on their own," i.e. get their own shot no matter the D or who is guarding them. Then you have guys that cannot create on their own, but make a decent percentage when running a set to get them a shot. In football terms, if you are going to target a WR AND have high level success as a team, that WR better be a playmaker who can create on his own," so to speak, and not be overmatched by good coverage 8 out of 10 plays. Hartline has never been that guy. Never. Ever. Ever. He's made a living making set plays on very poor Dolphin teams -- a lot like Bess did. To the tune that Bess attracted a 4th round pick from Cleveland based on the rep of these stats. Hartline wouldn't even get a 4th from teams.

This isn't hating on him as a person, btw. Because he's well spoken and good guy. But the only team where Hartline starts at the 2 is gonna be a lower level offensive team -- unless, of course, that all other positions on the offense are beasting. Which ain't happenin here.

LD
p.s. Michael Irvin talked about a big playoff game where it was 3rd and 8 or so, and they called a play. They called Irvin's number and Aikman said "Book It," in the huddle -- and this is w. the other teams number 1 CB on him. The whole team knew that no single CB could guard Irvin on a play that he wanted. So they called the first down play in the huddle too. That's a playmaker. That's a WR who can create on his own. That's a WR that goes way beyond stats.

Don't pretend like you're not seeing the Tanny Adjusters jumping down the throats of the rest of the offense. It's their first time in Lazor's offense too right?

Most of the people supporting Tannehill are claiming that he is part of the problem but not the whole problem. Coincidentally, his coaches are saying the same thing. It is the haters on this site that want to insist it is all on Tannehill.

Looks like people are either Tanny Adjusters or Moore ons.

LOL ..... oh now you're conveniently claiming he is part of the problem.

Where the hell have you been? That is 'kind of implied' when someone states that Tannehill isn't the ONLY problem. Wow.....

You only recently began tooting that horn. You fought tooth and nail for the longest time that it's everyone else who's the problem.
