Dolphins hire Tannebaum as consultant

under Ireland Miami never even made a postseason, the only one they made was under BP and they were 1 and done.

Under Tannenbaum NYJ made 3 and won 4 playoff games while reaching 2 title games.

I don't blame Sprano for the O, no one could have succeeded w/ what he had to work w/ that season.

Jets weren't in cap hell, it was an easy fix and idzik fixed it like Mike would have. the difference is Mike would have eaten most of it by now while Idzik has held onto it.

he was a player the other was a front office decision maker...it's not the same thing...at all

track record was sitting on marck buttfumble when he should have bailed and giving him a dumb contract in the process and it got him fired...that and the fact the guy couldn't locate an edge pass rusher worth a damn when it was the glaring other need to get that team over the hump...qb and edge rusher

i listened to tannebaum talk prospects a few times before on nfl network and i mean it was a joke the guy was a decision maker

He built a dominate offensive line and brought in a rookie HC, that got them to the Conf. Champ x2. His downfall as you said was hitching his wagon to Snatchez and over spending on small window of opportunity.

I just marvel at the hypocrisy of this fanbase. Just last week, people were on me about calling the fanbase fickle and faux. And excusing their fandom or lack there of, because of a lack of winning in modern or recent history. THen this topic happens. And the two faced nature of people come out because a former Jet is doing nothing important in Miami.

• Under Tannenbaum with his own people the jets never won a division; Ireland did
• Under Tanenbaum with his own people (not mostly those he inherited from Bradway) and no outside assistance from a team which pulled its starters while ahead, Tannenbaum made one legit postseason, vs Ireland none but one divisional title orchestrating the greatest turnaround in NFL history mostly with a new team
• Under Tannenbaum, the jets lost 13 of their last 19 games; under Ireland the Fins lost 9 of their last 19 games.
• Under Tannenbaum, the jets blew an opportunity to draft Wilson despite being urged to do so and fielded receiving scrubs including the Wilson alternate-pick, Stephen Hill in the 2nd
• Under Ireland, when Keller and then Gibson went down, he still provided the team with functional 4th to 7th round receiver picks like Hartline, Matthews and Clay instead of signing the likes of a Schillins and Clyde Gates

Bottom Line: if you're gonna use Chaz Shillins and Clyde Gates (and Stephen Hill) as an excuse for a QB who couldn't even hit them when open instead throwing into triple coverage, the blame has to go to the GM. With Wilson, their OL ranked #5 by PFF and #16 by Football outsiders and their '12 running game almost 500 yards better than what Tannehill had going for him in '13, it's likely that if Tannenbaum didn't stonewall Bradway and drafted Wilson instead of Hill, they'd have flipped that 6-10 to 10-6 and he'd still have a job (although undeservedly so). Just a glorified bean counter and he couldnt even do that well!

So would I have preferred Tannenbaum's scant successes since 06? Well yes, but that's like picking acid reflux over dysentery.

they had a heck of a team they just didn't have the most important piece...and they tried to make the qb the focal point of the offense in year 3 as i recall and found out he wasn't cut out for it...he needs a rediculous run game a d and to work off play action...gms and hcs heads roll when they back bad qbs...they completely failed when they decided that mark could carry that offense...he can't...and he never has never will

if mark's looking good for the eagles which i'm sure someones overstating to begin with in philly it just further reinforces my belief that the system is the real star in phillys offense...cause mark has plenty of deficiencies at the position...from an accuracy stand point to a feel for pressure and accounting for it etc...and they are a part of who he is as a player...but he does have a hell of an offensive line to work behind...one that hides foles deficiencies well also

Ireland won a division UNDER Parcells and his team promptly got humiliated at home in the WC round never to get to postseason again.

Tannenbaum made moves in '06 to help a team he just took over make the playoffs, he then rebuilt the team for 2 title game runs.

Under Tannenbaum we made 3 postseasons, won 4 postseason games(including beating our biggest rival on the road) and made 2 title games.

Miami has 3 playoff apps since 2000.
Miami has 4 playoff wins from 1994-current
Miami last made a title game in 1992

he was cut for it, they just didn't have the talent around him. 3 of his top 5 weapons entering 2011 were out of football after that season.

mark never had a ridiculous run game, he had a good one in 2009, decent one in 2010. we won 11 games mostly b/c of the passing game and nearly got to a SB b/c of the passing game.

Mark(or Foles or 20 other QBs)on Miami last year and you make the postseason w/ the talent around the QB.

Roflmao now Ireland won a division? Yet when defending him all blame went on Parcells while he was here? Man that target is still moving!

I don't disagree at all. Period. But as GM he did build a team with a very short window, and brought in a HC, some here advocate for.

It is what it is. I'm not a fan of the man. I wish he and Snatchez were still there. But Geno will be the next blooper in NYJ lore.

Tannenbaum: 55-55 +2 kneel downs, no division titles. One legit postseason with his own players and no outside help in 7 years should get you fired! buttfumble in the '11 3 game tailspin to end '11 against losing teams at that time: 60QBR 56% completion, 5 TDs and 7 Ints. But instead of listening to Bradway and drafting Wilson, extended buttfumble into Cap Hell... so between the cap hell in '12 and having to rely on Gates and Shillins.. and having to play one of the worst QBs in the league, Tannenbaum dug his own grave by not drafting Wilson. Tannehill could have done better in '11 than buttfumble; hell Moore could have done better. Sanchez on laseot year's fins team: lucky if he'd win 5 with the way he reads defenses and without the luxury of at least a passable OL. To blame the '12 Season on anyone but Tannenbaum and buttfumble who had plenty of open men he couldn't find, instead dancing around with happy feet before throwing ints into triple coverage (when not innovating "Butt-6s), is just ridiculous. Well, maybe Rex also for mismanaging his offensive resources, and hiring Sparano with the high praise of calling him his mini me. :idk:

Mediocre teams like Cleveland hang their hats on Division Titles! Let's be real had the roles reversed and Miami got in the playoffs that way everyone on her myself included would have been happy. We all would have used winning 2 games and going to Conference Championship as proof we belonged!

so just to be clear, you'd rather win a div title then get humiliated at home in the WC rd than win 2 playoff games and play for the right to represent your conference in the Super Bowl?
