do we really want to know ??? or just want to keep the info flowing ;)

I would take Carter over OG in a minute as much as do like OG. Since we did absolutely nothing but Chambers on deep patterns and out's last year, we desparately need to get him some varieties in his routes for 2002 and if Carter can teach him some of the intrcies (sp?) of the shorter routes, that alone could help us for the 5 years.

I still believe - even with consideration for injuries - if Carter comes, someone must go at some point.

No. Receivers Ht. Wt. Yr. College
17 Robert Baker 5-11 198 2 Auburn
84 Chris Chambers 5-11 210 2 Wisconsin
15 Ronny Daniels 6-1 210 1 Auburn
86 Oronde Gadsden 6-2 215 5 Winstom-Salem
19 Joey Getherall 5-7 170 1 Notre Dame
18 Margin Hooks 5-11 190 1 Brigham Young
16 Albert Johnson 5-9 190 2 Southern Methodist
11 Darnell McDonald 6-3 199 2 Kansas State
80 James McKnight 6-1 198 9 Liberty

87 Dedric Ward 5-9 190 6 Northern Iowa

Bottom line............If Carter came to us in the capacity of "leader by example" then I`m all for it. He`d have to stow his prima donna attitude. Can he do that? Somehow I doubt it. IMO someone on the Vike`s should have knocked him on his ass.

Boy, this is tough. First off Ice, I guess the interviews with Gadsden would be kinda pointless if he wasn't on the team.

Second, I can't stand Chris Carter. He drags Christianity through the mud with his attitude...but that is a personal issue.

Gadsden is a great PLAYER. No he isn't fast, and yes his toes are shot, but have you ever see the guy not give 110%? Have we not all watched him come down with passes that Fiedler was simply throwing away?

What about making a tough catch over the middle, only to shake a defender off his legs, and run for 10 more yards? He is a quiet guy, who leads by example. Chris Chambers is learning a lot obout how to use his body to shield off defenders from Mr. Gadsden. Maybe it was Oronde's leadership and tutoring that turned Chambers into the stud he is now?

I hate cancers in the locker room, and if Carter is signed, the first time I see him blow up at Fiedler on the sideline, I hope Jay knocks his ass out.

I'm very much with you 87 on the idea of Carter dragging his faith through the mud. That's probably one of the main reasons I can't stand the guy; he claims to be a Christian looking out for everyone else, when in fact, he's just out for #1. But like you said, this is a personal opinion, but I share it with you. :D

Yup but Wanny also isn't Dennis Green. Wanny won't tolerate any bs and half the phins team would knock him on his rear end.

To me the issue comes down to "Is Carter a better player then Orende". The answer to me is quite simple and to let personal issues invade that mindset when Carter is the far superior athlete is rediculous.

Is Jeff George a far superior QB to Tony Banks? Yep. Did he lose every game he started for the Redskins this year? Yep. Did Tony Banks take over and win 5 straight? Yep.

Personal issues can kill a team. Just look at how Carter has managed his off season. He has screwed himself out of playing for the Rams, and the Browns...all the while saying that he wouldn't play for Cleveland. Now his ONLY option is to play for Vet minimum in Miami.

Hey the guy might come in and light it up...win us a Super Bowl, but then again he might destroy the chemistry we have, and "teach" Chambers and Williams how to be spoiled brats who throw tantrums when they don't get the ball enough.

I guess we will see what the Dolphins think soon enough.

I don`t see Carter as a "far superior athelete" compared to OG. He`s faster. OG is bigger and catches everything thrown in his vicinity. I believe he had only one incompletion last year. OG also gets decent separation. If OG can play through the pain he suffrers with his toes, I certainly hope we keep him this year. UM............I just don`t like Carter.............personality thing I guess. :)

what would be the cap ramifications of dealing OG for, possibly, a third or 4th round pick(seems high, but he has been a productive wideout and a good locker room guy)...keep in mind that his low salary would be attractive to potential suiters

Then we need to get you some dark shades and a walking stick. Only a "phin" fan would see it that way.

Are either starting quality QB's. No. So no point made. Comparing two good WR's to 2 scrub QB's does not make a point.

You wouldn't even get a 7th rounder for an over the hill reciever with bum toes with a 1.35 million salary.

we love OG for his toughness and ability to make spectacular catches, but Carter is one of the great's

maybe I`m just trying to justify not hiring Carter cause of his attitude. Most of our players are solid PHIN vets and to bring in a potential disruptive player could be unsettling. I guess this has been hashed and rehashed enough. In closing, yhis is my infantile oppinion.

:monkey: Carter

I am a bit waffling on this, i.e. I could live w/ or w/o Carter, so I'll throw a name and year out there that could equate to Carter:

1995 Eric Green

other the other hand, he could more like Irving Fryar

We'd save $1.35 million by cutting or trading OG. OG's 2002 salary is $1.7 million.

You missed the point (or conveniently disregarded it). We're talking about personal issues distroying a team. And the fact is that Jeff George brought down the Redskins with his attitude. Tony Banks came in off the street with no baggage and resurrected the team.

Whether they're "scrubs" or "studs" is irrelevant. Personal issues can destroy a team. And Carter's ego is certainly a concern.
