Dolphins in the mix for James Jones WR

I like James Jones, I've seen him play a lot, he's a favorite target of Aaron Rodgers. Although, on the other hand, Gibson plays hard, with heart, and intensity. Can't have too much depth, but I wouldn't mind him at 4-5M/year.

Not seeing it. More speculation from the media because Philbin was former Packers OC. Media is playing connect the dots again.

This always amuses me on this board. As long as the salary cap remains healthy who cares what a player is paid, Dawn has shown she will not overpay anyone.

Maybe my post was worded incorrectly, basically what i was trying to get at is that we can allocate our cap to more pressing needs than WR in free agency. Such as: OT, OG, DT, LB, CB, RB...Wide reciever is not a position we readily need to address.

I would agree... with one exception. If you can get a player that will substantially improve a position, you have to try do it. The difficult part is deciding if someone will significantly improve that position. You better be right. I think that's what Ireland tried to do at LB and struck out.

I like James Jones a lot.

This team would be better with him on it.

Makes sense as a good Red Zone target. Yes we have good WRs, but I'd love to add that go-to guy in goal-line situations.

The dude would be the true #2 WR we need. He's big, can get open deep and knows Philbin. I'd hate to under-bid when we could add him.

I don't see why he would want to play here. It will be his last contract and its not a position we will spend big bucks on. If he's play for cheap, I'd bring him in as a #4 WR, but I doubt he would go for that.

If we sign James Jones, it means Philbin is dead set on an all out passing offense with little emphasis on the running game... Needless to say, Im not a big fan of this strategy...

A lot of people think we're set at WR. But we aren't until we have a legit RZ threat and until Mike Wallace grows a pair and starts attacking the ball in the air, diving for a few passes, dropping fewer, etc. Mike Wallace is one of those guys that, if the ball isn't absolutely on the money or DAMN CLOSE, isn't going to go up for it, lay out for it, take a hit for it, etc. Hopefully, with more time to throw, this won't be as big an issue. But it was this past season.

While he would be a nice addition, this is not a position of need. We still need another lineman or two and solidify the DT position......also running back.
