Dolphins interested in CB's Tarell Brown and Walter Thurmond, Patterson still in mix

Greg Auman ‏@gregauman 29s

Bucs are not in play for Seahawks free-agent DB Walter Thurmond, who has visited Jaguars and is visiting 49ers today.

Make no mistake, Walter Thurmond is looking for a decent pay raise. This is probably just a Seattle squeeze play, but he might really really want the money. SuperBowl winning slot CBs are not usually available 6 weeks later.

Top FA CBs left: 1. DRC 2. Walt Thurmond 3. Peanut Tillman 4. Antonio Cromartie 5. Tarell Brown 6. Derek Cox 7. Chris Cook 8. Terrell Thomas

That dude is straight up garbage. Shouldn't be on any list that includes the words top or best on it.

Not sure why Brandon Browner is not on that list either. Yeah, he's a big risk, but let's keep in mind too that he's the reason Thurmond was sitting on the bench for three years. Not to mention that he was one half of the best CB duo in the league. I hope he doesn't end up with the Pats, but it's starting to look that way...

wouldn't touch browner or thurmond. They are products of a system that with cost extra coming off the superbowl win not to mention browner is suspended to start the year.

How about Optimus Prime a.k.a. Charles Tillman? He's a veteran that could hold down the fort till the young guys are ready. Plus, he's been playing against the best receiver in the league-Megatron.

Thurmond and Brown are neck in neck in rankings, with Thurmond #31 and Brown #32.

Thurmond (27) played 585 snaps and had a 2.1 grade in cover. Brown(29) played 772 snaps, and had a 2.4 grade in cover.

Raiders sign CB Tarell Brown to a one-year, $3.5 million fully guaranteed deal.
The 49ers were reportedly offering a three-year, $10 million deal, but Brown decided to bet on himself and take the one-year offer. Brown will pencil in as the starter opposite D.J. Hayden. He should have plenty of chances to prove his worth before taking another run at free agency next offseason.

wouldn't touch browner or thurmond. They are products of a system

This is 100% untrue. Their "system" is basic cover 2 and 3. They let their great athletes make disciplined plays, which is why they win. Seattle doesn't trick anyone.
