Dolphins May Have Found Future Playmaker In Late-Round Gem B.J. Cunningham

He definitely can turn out to be one of the steals of the late rounds. The guy can play and had very good production his last year at college. Not the swiftest of receivers, but does everything else for his team...blocks, is a good route runner, and is sure handed for the most part.

Hmmm, he ran a 4.6 at the combine and didn't try to beat it at his pro day, which suggests to me that was a very good result for him . Saw a short interview with him at his pro day where he seemed really happy with his 4.6.

I know getting separation is a slightly de-emphasised advantage in a WCO, but it's still pretty important, not to mention stretching the field. A lack of pace is a pretty debilitating weakness for a WR in any offense.

At the Shrine game, I saw comments that he struggled with quick snappy passes as you would expect him to face in a WCO, but was a stud plucking long balls and jump balls out of the air.

These knocks don't mean he won't be successful, but maybe explain why he fell to where he did.

You get seperation more with quickness and good route running vs. speed. Jerry Rice ran a 4.7 at the combine, but he never had issues with getting seperation. I've seen numbers for Wes Welker anywhere from 4.55-4.65 in the 40. He still gets open 100 times a season. You are right about stretching the field though.

I agree quickness is sometimes better, plus we didnt invest much in him. I think he will help our team.

Believe it or not, this kid is my pick for most productive rookie of this class. I see Miller losing a lot of carries to Bush, Slaton and DT. We really have no defined #1 and 2 WR. This kid can sneak up and steal one of those spots. He is a playmaker and a STEAL for us. In every single Cousin's highlight it is this kid who you see scoring a TD or making an amazing catch. This was his GO TO GUY at Mich. St. I hope I am right because we usually dont hit on these late picks, and we can use a good WR for our young QB.

I think it might be too early to call him a gem...

Who cares about what his 40 time was, as long as it wasn't in the 5's it doesn't matter. The difference between a 4.6 and a 4.3 is like a step. Good route running can make up for that easily.

Anquin Boldin is slow. And he was productive his rookie year before Fitzgerald was a Card, so don't answer this post with, "Yeah, but he had Fitz as the other wide out.

This really was a ridiculously deep WR class. I don't know if you'd label Cunningham what would be considered a conventional playmaker. Matthews probably fits that role better, but BJ has the best chance of starting and going up for some really tough catches. Moore needs that kind of receiver and could click with him pretty well. We might see him on the field sooner than later.

B.J Cunningham could be what takes this draft from good to great. A potential starting QB, RB, WR, TE, RT and DE......If he could be our late round Donald Driver, it'd go a long way for Tannehill and this offense.

While that would be an ideal outcome. I have my concerns about our new TE and DE.

Vernon is mean and tough as nails, but does he have the size to be a good DE? 6'2 isn't gonna overwhelm many linemen. Plus he really needs to work on his run game, he's a polished pass rusher, but will get exposed on the run.

Now my real concern is Egnew. He may be a nice seem threat, a good option to flex out wide. But he couldn't block my 3 year old cousin Sally Mae. I don't know about you, but to be a starting TE in the big show, a major prerequisite would be BLOCKING.

So here's hoping both guys work their tails off to improve or they won't be able to help out that much.

Im happy with most of our picks, but I don't know enough about our 2 new WR's to make an informed decision.

I think this guy is going to be a stud, watch his you tube highlights!

Well, both Brandon Marshall and Marquis Colston ran 4.55 40's at the combine in 2006, so there is hope.
