And I’m not talking about the usual AFC East suspects. Need a non divisional AFC opponent for one. Of course that’s hard to do when you miss the playoffs every year. There was a good opportunity to start one with Baltimore had Miami actually won some of those games when they played so many times consecutively or if they both made the playoffs at the same time.

Last year it seemed Oakland and Miami we’re back to being AFC contenders, both turned out to be pretenders. And with Oakland moving to Vegas, eh loses its luster if Oakland and Miami could rekindle their rivalry.

I just wanna be part of hating another team outside the division and playing games for bragging rights and playoff implications in prime time games. Kinda of like what Seattle and Carolina were becoming in the nfc or obviously like New England and Pittsburgh now or New England and Indianapolis in the past.
What do you guys think, is this possible, and most likely with which AFC team?

It feels like the Ravens are a non divisional rivalry.

they probably see us as nothing more than a bump in the road

I remember the Oak Fin rivalry from years back. Shed a tear of 10 as a young boy.

Texans had our number a while, now it is the Ravens. Chargers use to be a big one too!

Yeah ravens fans definitely don’t see Miami as a rivalry lol if anything they see Miami on the schedule and they’re marking it as a win.

I've always felt like this is a huge rivalry, for one Ravens own us and two they're going to want revenge everytime we play after the clean hit drubbing kiko put on Little Joe

Why do we need a non divisional AFC rivalry again?

And what are the top rated non divisional rivalries right now in the NFL?

    Packers Niners? Dead
    Patriots Steelers? Maybe
Cardinals Rams? Would be a good one

I really can't think of any that make me stand up and go Yeah we need one of those.

We've had a pretty good rivalry going with the Browns for the worst possible football decisions imaginable for a while now ... and if they weren't cursed by witch demons you could even make an argument that they're about to turn a corner.

Lets work on being relevant again, then they can build a rivalry.

You can't force a rivalry, it has to naturally occur.

And it’s not going to occur so long as the team is a doormat.

We’re not the Ravens’ rivals; we’re a speed bump. Same way the rivalry against the Patriots ended after 2003. There were no longer any stakes because Miami was simply not good enough to contend for anything anymore. At best the Dolphins became a spoiler; at worst, a nuisance.

Ravens look at us as we look at Tennessee or the Browns. There is nothing close to a rivalry there.

I would go with the Bengals. (Nothing to do with living near Cincinnati, lol)

Both are usually battling for second place in their divisions.
Tannehill and Dalton are similar ages have faced each other 3 times
Tannehill with 2-1 edge including dramatic walk off OT win.

Unfortunately it's all we got right now.

If I had to pick a team, I would say the Chargers. We've played every season since 2011 but one. Games have been competitive for the most part. Also could consider the Jags for the in state competition.

If they could take care of business within their own division (like New England, KC, Pittsburgh does) then this would be a topic worth discussing. Until then, they need to prepare for NE, NYJ, and Buffalo as if it was the Super Bowl whenever they show up on the schedule.

I don't know about outside of the division, but within it the Dolphins vs. Jets rivalry used to be a classic. It had all of the boxes checked such as exciting games that were remembered as timeless classics and a bitter, personal hatred between the two teams and fanbases. The thing about rivalries however is that both teams should at least be respectable for anyone to care. We haven't been good enough for awhile now to maintain a place in any rivalry. The Ravens and their fans don't give us a second thought unless they are laughing at us. That's the sad, ugly truth:(
