Who really knows what all the inner workings were with this........I think you just need to focus on the end result.
Definitely not something I would obsess over......

I'm sorry, but was I the only one dismayed by the fact that Ireland and the Dolphins "mutually parted ways?"
MUTUAL? Come on. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's gone, but I (and many, many others) wanted his ass fired."
If you get fired with one of these contracts, you get paid the buyout. Unless you were fired with cause -- and cruddy drafts and free agent signings doesn't constitute cause.
You quit, you get nothing.
Unless there was negotiation behind the scenes to buy out the remainder of Ireland's contract, this was actually a lot worse for him.
No there is terminology in contract that prevents changes to the role. You can be sure he got a payout.Actually what Ross did was far more cold blooded than simply firing him, he forced him to quit and thus voided the final year of the contract.
I thought after he was fired the Ireland discussion would end of this board. My god, never seem such a strong obsession for a godam GM..

MUTUAL? Come on. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's gone, but I (and many, many others) wanted his ass fired. It would show backbone, a sense of "this is the bar, you didn't reach it so you're gone" I know, you think it would look bad for a new GM to come in if the owner fired the last one, but that's how this game works. There's nothing wrong with holding Ireland accountable, looking at his record over the last 6 years, and saying "sorry pal, your @$$ is grass"
But instead, after a week of *****ing around, it's a shaking of hands and a fond farewell. Come on, Ross.
This team seriously lacks leadership, starting at the top. We need SOMEONE to step up and lead! It's not gonna be Philbin, who reads his post-game speeches from notecards and spends his time picking up wrappers and telling players to tie their shoes. The only real leadership we had was Sherman who ran the team for Philbin, and his ass got canned. Rightfully so, he never should have been calling the plays. If Philbin was any kind of real coach, he would have taken the play calling away from his OC and did it himself, like Mike McCarthy in Green Bay. But Philbin never called plays before, which is DEFINITELY something I want in the guy "leading" this team. :rolleyes2:
Anyone else think it was bull**** that the owner forced Philbin to fire his mentor but didn't have the cajones to fire his own GM? Dammit I wish I had hope for this team, but I only see more years of :tubes: as long as Ross is the guy signing the checks. No matter what figurehead they put as "GM"
