Dolphins Players considered Richie an honorary black man

Nah, a lot of respected biracial players on the team, including Pouncey and Odrick

Background...not race....

Martin came from an affluent family with highly educated parents who then chose Stanford over Harvard....that is what they may not have respected...

maybe martin sucks as much to the players as he does to us fans. incognito went too far with the voice mail but martin should be ashamed of himself for the way hes handled this situation. all he had to do was talk to someone on the team and this couldve been handled in a few minutes. but no, pull this bs and the whole organization looks like a dysfunctional pile of dog sh*t. god only knows how long this is gonna last. hope martin is proud of himself!!

I don't know why this surprises anyone who has been involved in sports at a competitive level. You develop a bond that goes beyond many mainstream issues that elude the world of the politically correct.

Pouncey: Players don't think Incognito is racist

By Chris Perkins11:49 a.m. EST, November 6, 2013

DAVIE – Dolphins center Mike Pouncey spoke to ESPN’s Cris Carter, the Hall of Fame wide receiver, on Wednesday, off camera, regarding the Dolphins’ situation between guardRichie Incognito and tackle Jonathan Martin.
According to Carter, Pouncey said Martin, at times, wondered whether he was “cut out” to play in the NFL.
Carter said Pouncey told him no players consider Incognito a racist. He said Pouncey and the team’s six-member Leadership Council didn’t know about Incognito’s alleged voicemail for Martin prior to it being made public recently.

Here what Carter said Pouncey told him as far as the players' feelings toward Incognito:
"They don't feel as if he's a racist, they don't feel as if he picked on Jonathan repeatedly and bullied him, but if they could do it all over again there would be situations that they might change but they’re very, very comfortable with Richie,” Carter said.

Antonio Pierce said as much to the bobbleheads at First Take. But of course Mr Stephen A. Smith couldn't fathom the truth.

It happens at other levels of sport, too, in my experience.

All this tells me is that in some(most?all?who really knows) NFL locker rooms...being a punk/scumbag is something to be admired. And being a solid-quiet guy turns you into a phrase that I refuse to use regarding field vs house slaves. This is a societal problem. Unfortunately, it blew up on our teams face. I'd be happier if it happened to the Jets or the Pats.

This is sad and should be addressed in our locker room and league wide.

man, its not that they think hes black or he has some kinda emblem on his locker that says honorary black man, but the guy has probably been through alot with his teammates and they understand him. They know hes crazy. Everyone has that one person they know thats just crazy whether its a friend or family member or just someone they see from a distance. No one has problems with them, and they don't have problems with anyone else because its all love at the end of the day. But martin being the person who he is, probably never warmed up to Incognito, and maybe ritchie sensed that and felt like he had to pick on the guy to get him to come out of his shell. It happens all the time. Incognito said some things that weren't right, but i have a hard time believing he actually meant those things. And for this guy martin to save the messages from so long ago is just grimy imo and premeditated if you ask me.

I think it has more to do with his attitude, drive and toughness than background. I bet nobody calls Andrew Luck and Richard Sherman soft, they went to Stanford
