Dolphins preparing themselves to pay Eugene Monroe top LT money

I could be wrong but the sporting agency & agent that represents Monroe has never had a client sign for the money Monroe is about to get. I did a little research and found that Eugene Monroe was one of Sanat Shah's first clients if not the very first. Monroe's new deal could represent a lot for a little known agent like Sunny Shah of 320Sports. If he leaves money out in free agency, especially when a team like Miami is willing to overpay it could hinder his business. Shah must show other potential clients he could get the best deal possible & show them the money, so I sincerely doubt Monroe is going to take a deal from Baltimore without knowing what is out there, especially when rumors suggesting Miami wants to pay him top LT money.

If the entire NFL world knows the Dolphins are willing to pay a huge sum to Eugene Monroe you truly believe his agent is not aware. Shah depends on this deal just as much as his client, I cannot see him settling for anything that is not the best deal, which in NFL terms means the most money.

Hickey has done business in the past with Monroe's agent. Bucs signed Eric Page just last year & in 2011 TE Collin Franklin both clients of 320sports.

That's the thing. In a market where every tackle in the league were available, you're probably right. In a market where he is clearly the preferred player he can ask top dollar.

Yup, and if our team had smart business men/women at the helm they would look for cheaper options that bring more value for their buck. Veldheer and Saffold could possibly get close to half of what Monroe might get and there isn't much of a drop off there. We don't have to play to the market, we could let it play to us.

Things I don't understand: Dolfans hate Stephen Ross, yet look out for his wallet. The man is like the third richest owner in the NFL, if he wants to spend his bucks on the best available player, let him.

Rotoworld is reporting a deal is near for S. Veldheer around 5years 55 million. Not quite the half you speak of!

Grimes and Monroe would be an excellent start to Dennis Hickey's GM career with the Dolphins, I would be very happy with that and I hope it happens.:hump:

If there was no cap ... I'd say spend mother****er spend!!!

However, we do need to remain smart about where the money is distributed. Now, I'm not saying go cheap on the O-line. It's just blank statements like this, that don't make much sense to me.

Haven't you heard the new rule change? Every team is awarded a win for each $10m they are under the cap. The Raiders are already in the 2015 playoffs.

Are you aware the #Dolphins have spent 16% of their salary cap on the Offensive Line, it's time to get some HOGS.

Per sources, Eugene Monroe is unlikely to return to the Ravens. Contract talks between Monroe and the Ravens have reached a stand still

Per a source, Monroe wants a long-term deal that averages around $10M annually. The Ravens want him for closer to $8M or $9M per year

I care about how much he spends on one player because it turns into a team issue where as we only have a finite amount of cap to go around and many holes with previous drat picks that we should be able to sign and not just let walk, like Paul Soliai.... The bandwagon on spending crazy amounts to get the "best player" has already started on this forum and anyone with a level head can see it's ridiculous and counterproductive.. Wallace is making like 17 million this year.. He isn't even the best receiver on this team. I hope we don't make that mistake again out of desperation.

If I could get Collins for $6 million per year for 3-5 I'd do it. Just write opt-out clauses and injury protection.
