Dolphins Projected Camp Battles?

Hopefully Taylor is as good as many thought he could be because the competition will be good for them both but there is no way Finnegan is going to lose a camp battle to the rookie.

I wouldn't underestimate Vernon either, that guy is a football player through and through and he'll do what it takes.

The backup QB competition is one I'm interested in, especially because I've got 5k (vcash) on Matt Moore being a goner before September rolls around.

We shall see but, I belive that this camp is going to be the most competitive we have seen in many years.

I think it will be clear by the last pre-season game that Landry will be a starter on Sundays....I also think Moreno will get the edge over Miller on the depth chart but they will see virtually split snaps....

Only if Gibson hasn't fully recovered. If Gibson is 100% Landry has a better chance beating out Hartline for the #2. Gibson is a beast in the slot. Probably our best WR at that position, and maybe overall.

Odrick vs Mitchell

Moreno vs Miller isn't much of a competition imo

Odrick is the best all around DT on the team. The battle will be Starks vs Mitchell. Miller is a better runner than Moreno, but Moreno is a better all around back. I dont see them in competition at all. They will both share carries and plays, depending on down, distance and situation.

Taylor is not a rookie. He battled nagging injuries last yr.

I know it's the depths of the NFL's slow season, but can anybody tell me why this discussion matters at all? It's not like we're talking about having Elway and Brady fighting it out for the number one QB spot. This is about which of a pair of mediocre to bad players is going to be on the field. We're discussing decisions that will result in the difference in the Dolphins being 7-9 versus 8-8 or 9-7. After all, if we had an NFL quality starting player at any of these positions then there wouldn't be a decision as to who would be starting, now would there. This whole discussion is a testimony to how bad the Dolphins have been at talent acquisition over the last six years. It's all irrelevant until the Dolphins improve the overall talent level by at least three wins a season to become legitimate contenders instead of mediocre mush. And I haven't seen anything this off-season that leads me to be believe that the talent or the coaching has improved enough to make that happen.

It's the offseason. What would you rather people talk about that hasn't been beaten to death. The draft is now over and people are excited.

I dunno, it's possible we have to leave a talented WR, DE and CB on the bench to start the game. When was the last time we had that "problem?"

Plus, if true the competition will just make those guys even better.

this years o-line probably gives us those 3 extra wins this year. Our secondary is improved our rbs are better, and all around depth is bettter

I'm surprised that we haven't heard from the 2 or 3 fanatical Pat Devlin true believers that he will compete and then replace Tannehill as the starting QB. Maybe they are waiting for Ryan to mess up a deep pass to Wallace. I'm sure they are still lurking.

Brock beats out Delvin for 3rd QB then we don't have to hear from them ever. But you have to wonder if we just keep 2 QBs. I dont have faith in matt moore really idk bout anyone else

I don't care who makes 3rd QB but I do know that you have to have one. Too many times the first and second stringers get injured in the same game.

As a matter of general practice most teams use three WRs, DEs and CBs so who is the starter is somewhat irrelevant. All three players get plenty of playing time.

There is an old saying that "If a team has two QBs fighting to be the starter then they don't have a real starter on their roster at all." I think most of these camp competitions fall into that category.

Well...that quote is referring to teams that run 2 qbs out for different formations, like one passer and one runner. "When you have 2 qbs you don't have one." Having guys fight for the starting spot is just fine.

I love the John Wooden quote in your signature line. Truer words have never been spoken.

The real QB battle is between Devlin and Moore. Tannehill has been handed the job the day he was drafted. Once Moore is out of the way, anything can happen...(remember Nick Foles)...

What would you prefer to be talking about? New threads are wide open.
