Dolphins’ Reggie Bush is NFL’s worst rated tailback

If Reggie Bush wasn't such a famous college player nobody would care about him. Forget the crap about him being poorly utilized, it may be that he could do slightly better in a more specialized role, but he is flat out a dumb runner on the field. His problems have nothing to do with physical skillset and everything to do with how poorly his field vision and decision making are with the football.

He can't outjuke an entire defense, but time and time again he tries to because it worked in college, against lesser players, and it worked in every level before that. It's all he knows how to do, and unfortunately it just isn't possible to do that at the NFL level.

It's stupid sparano who came out before the season started saying Bush is an every-down back.

Moron. Worst coach ever who has no clue how to be a head coach in the NFL. And has no clue how to allocate players

So i don't blame daboll as much as i blame sparano for all the stupidity (for ALOT of things). The Dolphins were doing stupid things under sparano's watch well before daboll even arrived here., Daboll didn't use Cribbs between the tackles in Cleveland very much on handoffs. I am 100% sure it's sparano's stupid idea to do that with Bush and telling daboll to do so.

I agree and blame Sparano for most of Bush's lack of production.

But I'm pretty sure Daboll didn't use Cribbs between the tackles very much is because Cribbs is a wide reciever.

But that brings up the point that why don't the Dolphins just convert Bush to a reciever?

What MOST don't realize, is that Bush wasn't even the starting RB with the TROJANS, he was surrounded by very good talent, and he played in the WORST defensive conference in the Country.

All anybody knew about the kid was that he made 3 or 4 incredible moves in open space, against high-school level defenders and ESPN played it over, and over, and over and over......

ESPN has accelerated stupid behavior for decades.

insanity... if only there were people who saw this coming...... (insert darren sproles highlights here).

Pro Football Focus is a terrible website which pulls stats out of their collective rear ends, but Reggie has been pretty much invisible this year. Can't say I'm surprised.

I think the Dolphins contributed to his inability to improve. I think when he was drafted so early, he envisioned himself as the next Barry Sanders, and his running style followed suit.

Being let go by the Saints might have spelled the end of that mentality on his part (trying to emulate Barry Sanders), but when a new team tells you they're going to use you as a featured back, you might not let go of the primary illusion you've played the game with.

Consequently, Reggie Bush is still trying to run like Barry Sanders, rather than restricting his style to what actually works in terms of his talent and the speed of today's game.

He needs to become a one-cut guy when he runs between the tackles, but I think he's still playing in the NFL with his high school/USC mentality, which doesn't work.

Don't blame ESPN. Reggie Bush was the most talked about prospect by fans I can ever remember, that is until Andrew Luck. Some even accused the Texans of shanking a game winning FG that year just so they could get him. People had an uproar when Bush wasn't picked number 1 overall, and now most people don't even think he was worth a late draft pick.

I know the two are completely different in every way possible, but Reggie Bush is all the example I need to not be rooting Suck for Luck.

Omar Kelly + Profootballfocus.com? Once again we came 1 retarded "source" (i.e. bleacher report) away from Armageddon.

While its easy to dismiss the source, the fact is Bush hasn't done anything to improve the team so far.

Not sure whether to laugh at this list or cry at its findings.

Casserly sure knows how to draft.. wish we could get him. Look at all that talent he brought in for the Texans..

How you doing bro?

Let's not kid ourselves, the reason we pursued Bush over superior players in Sproles and Bradshaw was the name recognition. Bush is a pseudo celebrity. You know the idea of having him on the team gave Ross a boner. It was also absurd to believe that Sparano and Daboll were more capable of utilizing him effectively than Payton and Carmichael.

When a guy is graded on EVERY SINGLE PLAY of EVERY SINGLE GAME, how can you dismiss that? Statistics can be dismissed, but having every single play graded.. how is it possible to dismiss this? BTW, we can't show you the list..for one because it's another site, and as far as I know, you're not supposed to talk about it, even when it was free. Now that it costs money, we can't link anyway. I'll tell you why Reggie is rated how he has.. He's rated as the second worst runner, the worst blocker, and negative in the passing game this year (these are rated by 25% qualifying PT). Last year he was 30th in the running game, 25th in the pass, and 41st in blocking among 58 qualified RB's. Two years ago he was 4th in the pass, 34th as a runner, and 32nd as a blocker. SO, REGGIE BUSH, was never rated as the 12 best runner. He was utilized correctly. I always come back to this site, and realize everyone is an extreme fanboy/fairweather fan/extremely negative...and then leave. Only came on here to see Marshall's comments and seen a PFF topic..
