Dolphins releasing Pat Devlin

I just think he has zero chance to make the ravens unless there is an injury.

Agreed, just acknowledging a possible connection between him and someone else in the position group there. Doesn't really mean anything in the NFL anyway, whether true or not.

Also, is Tyrod Taylor still Baltimore's backup?

Yea and they drafted a guy that is third string

Oh...is this where all the cool kids go to kick Pat Devlin when he's down?

Kid *could* play in college. Decent guy. Not an NFL starter, clearly, but lets not pretend he was....oh...Ray Lucas or something.

as a third string qb he and lucas were probably about on par

Ray Lucas threw the worst pass in the history of this franchise. It traveled three feet. I could poop a better pass than Ray Lucas could throw.

Devlin wasn't going to go anywhere here...but he was far better than Lucas. Here's hoping he catches on somewhere else.

We are argueing over which poop stunk more. Lucas sucked as a starter but as a third stringer not sure how anyone can see Devlin as any better but I guess when u have a guy that is a total unknown its easy to think that

Look Devlin was the epitome of a 3rd string QB. He has pro typical size for the position with a very decent skill set. Unfortunately he never really improved and lacked position affluent arm strength. I liked his prospects of becoming a solid backup and #2 going into the 2014 season but after looking at what he has accomplished this TC, thoughts started to creep in about the idea of only carrying two QBs which tells you all you need to know about Devlin. Hopefully he latches on somewhere else. Good luck to him.

This is a very fair point. I watched Devlin play in college...it's always bugged me that "armchair analysts" ripped the kid *because* he was a third stringer, and they just had no damn clue.

The NFL is the next level. It's hard to say what might have happened, because...as you said...he ended up being an unknown.

Rant over.

I was hoping we cut him at some point. I still think Tannehill and Moore are the only 2 QB's to make the 53 man roster and Quinn is here so that in preseason the 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th string guys have a decent QB so that the coaches can get a decent look at their skillsets.

There is no video footage of it but in practice this training camp apparently Devlin tried to spike the ball to stop the clock and it ricocheted off a player and resulted in a pick 6. I doubt anything like it has ever happened in a game or in practice before, or ever will again.
