Dolphins releasing Pat Devlin

Obviously our QB Whisperer Bill Lazor didn't see enough raw potential to waste time trying to develop.

I'm kind of disappointed in that we devoted like 3 seasons into developing this guy. I think a lot of fans, myself included, thought he was going to take the next step and replace Matt Moore as the backup, and actually be.... an upgrade.... as our 2nd stringer. I didn't find him arrogant, I thought he had a good QB persona and I liked his skillset. I understand we have a new OC, so maybe he doesn't translate for Lazor, but it kind of sucks we wasted a roster spot and maybe could have held onto other developmental prospects.

In addition, Baltimore makes sense since He was on Deleware's roster with Flacco if memory serves correct. Probably gave him a recommendation.

That's how it goes. Ever wonder why so many former Dolphin projects are doing well for themselves elsewhere, it's because there are many more that didn't pan out ever. You put in the time and sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn't. It's certainly a good time to let Devlin go after he didn't take the next step this season.

To the alphabet guy, BG12DM13CP10, who spent many nights defending the inevitable greatness of Pat Devlin and his destiny to overtake Tannehill, this must be a devastating calamity. Did anyone find out if alphabet guy was related to Pat or is employed as his manager? I'm sure the Patriots will consider bringing him in to get the new Offensive system

I'm pretty sure there was a poster on this forum proclaiming Devlin as our next franchise QB, and that he'd unseat Tannehill. I'm pretty sure he was serious, considering he kept this up for like a year.

Having Penny with the likes of Griese and Marino, is a no no. His advocacy for Devlin was nothing more than foolish NYJ wishful thinking.

Ok now I might buy into the keep two quarterbacks on the 53 man roster theory. Put Lobato or someone else on the practice squad and have Quinn on speed dial.

1. We are almost certainly going to be keeping just two QB's due to stiff competition at other positions, one of them being WR where I am certainly we don't want to repeat the mistake of having only 4 WR's on the roster and then having one go down for the season.
2. We are almost certainly going to try to find someone better than Lobato for the PS. Lobato is not even a developmental prospect, and there may be a guy somewhere in the league who at least fits this profile who doesn't make an opening roster.

just loving this staff more and more and more.

hickey....the ANTI ireland!!

I felt like i was getting a lobotomy watching seth play, meh on Devlin, Quinn can showcase our bench

I agree. This sounds like a Lazor decision and he just said "enough". Maybe Quinn's just a Camp Arm, but maybe it also sends a message to some other players to lift your game, maybe it also sends a message to QB Coach, Zack Taylor, who spent the past 3 seasons developing Devlin as the #3. Memo to Zack - Lazor had your position in Philly. He knows what a good QB Coach does in the job. BTW - Mike left the bubble 7 months ago.

That is why we are such losers. We don't draft quinn, then we bring him in 7 years later after he proves he's a bust. And we keep Lobado, and cut Devlin who at least has promise. We have no clue. Philbin can go next. Hopefully Devlin gets his chance in the NFL and shows us all.

And if he does get another gig, you'll be at that team's fan forum to show 'em all I bet!
